JUSTICE FOR KATELYNN: FATHER CHARGED IN FOUR-MONTH-OLD’S DEATH
In Pembroke, North Carolina, a heartbreaking tragedy has left a community in mourning following the death of an infant girl. Katelynn Michelle Priest was only four months old when her life was cut short, long before she could reach her first birthday. What should have been a time of joy, filled with first smiles, milestones, and a bright future, ended in a devastating police investigation into suspected child abuse.

The incident began on May 5, when emergency responders were called to address severe injuries sustained by the infant. Katelynn was initially rushed to UNC Health Southeastern for emergency medical treatment. Due to the critical nature of her condition, she was subsequently airlifted to UNC Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill, where medical teams fought to save her life. Despite days of intensive care, Katelynn succumbed to her injuries and passed away on May 15.

Following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, local authorities announced serious charges against her father, twenty-eight-year-old Kashon Malik Priest. He has been formally charged with murder in connection with the fatal injuries. He is currently being held without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center as legal proceedings move forward. While law enforcement has not yet released specific autopsy findings or detailed physical evidence to the public, the legal process will determine full accountability. Katelynn’s story serves as a tragic reminder of the vulnerability of infants and the importance of remembering young lives lost too soon.
