21-MONTH-OLD NYXAILIA HINTON DIES AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR AT TENNESSEE PUMPKIN PATCH
The toddler was visiting a pumpkin patch in Sevierville when she fell and was struck by a vehicle. Her mother says she never gave permission for the babysitter to take her daughter on the outing. The family is now demanding answers.
A Tennessee family is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 21-month-old Nyxailia Hinton after the little girl was struck by a car during a visit to a pumpkin patch in Sevierville.
The incident happened on Tuesday, October 27, at a pumpkin patch on Happy Hollow Lane.
According to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Nyxailia fell and was hit by a vehicle driven by a family friend. Emergency responders rushed the toddler to the hospital, where she was admitted to intensive care with serious injuries.
A fundraising page created to help the family said Nyxailia suffered a cracked skull and ribs and needed a blood transfusion as doctors fought to save her life.
Despite their efforts, she died at 12:45 a.m. on October 27, according to the fundraising page.
HER MOTHER SAYS SHE DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE TRIP
In an emotional interview with local station WVLT, Nyxailia’s mother, Peandra Hinton, said her daughter had been with a babysitter who took her to the pumpkin patch.
Peandra said she had not given permission for the outing and did not know the people her daughter was with.
According to the report, it was the babysitter’s mother who contacted Peandra to tell her about the accident.
The circumstances surrounding the trip and exactly how the toddler fell and was struck have not been fully explained publicly.
“SHE JUST LIT UP THE ROOM”
As her family tries to process the loss, Peandra remembered her daughter as a little girl whose presence could brighten anyone’s day.
“She just lit up the room,” her mother told WVLT. “If you were having a bad day, you see Zayla, she’s gonna turn it all around.”
She also described the pain of waking up and realizing her daughter was no longer there.
“The fact that I couldn’t wake up this morning to my baby, it really tore me up,” Peandra said.
Nyxailia’s father also spoke about the family’s grief and their determination to seek answers.
“We want justice for her,” he said, explaining how deeply the tragedy had affected everyone who loved the little girl.
INVESTIGATION REMAINS ONGOING
The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident remains under investigation.
As of the latest reports, authorities had not announced any criminal charges.
The family is making funeral arrangements while seeking answers about what happened during the outing.
For Nyxailia’s loved ones, the pumpkin patch visit that should have been an ordinary childhood experience has become a devastating loss.
She was only 21 months old. There should have been many more birthdays, holidays, first words, little adventures and memories ahead of her.
Instead, her family is left holding onto the memories they made in the short time they had together.
Rest in peace, sweet Nyxailia.
