FEARS GROW FOR MISSING SCOTS FARMER TOM ALLAN AS POLICE RENEW APPEAL ONE WEEK AFTER HE VANISHED DURING STORM BOELO
The 63-year-old disappeared from a farm in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Specialist search teams have been deployed, while his family is urging anyone who may have seen him to come forward.
A desperate search is continuing for a 63-year-old Scottish farmer who vanished from his home in South Lanarkshire, leaving his family and friends anxiously waiting for answers.
Tom Allan was reported missing from Westmains Farm, near Stonehouse, on Friday, October 23, 2026, after he was last seen by members of his family at approximately 8:15 a.m. that morning.
More than a week later, there had been no confirmed sighting of him, prompting Police Scotland to renew its appeal for information.
Officers have said they are extremely concerned for his welfare as searches continue across the farmland and surrounding countryside.
EXTENSIVE SEARCH OPERATION UNDERWAY
Police Scotland has coordinated an extensive search involving several specialist teams and partner agencies.
The operation has included the police helicopter, dive and marine unit, police dogs and mountain rescue teams. Officers have also been carrying out enquiries across the wider local area in an effort to establish Tom’s last known movements.
Residents have previously been urged to check their gardens, sheds, outhouses and other outbuildings in case he may have sought shelter.
Inspector Kenny MacRobert said:
“Tom has now been missing for a week, and we are very concerned for his welfare.”
He appealed to anyone who had been walking in the area during the previous week to think carefully about whether they might have seen Tom.
Motorists were also asked to check their dashcam footage in case it had captured something that could help investigators.
HIS FAMILY SHARES WHAT HE WAS WEARING
As the search continues, Tom’s family has made an emotional appeal of its own, sharing photographs and details of the clothes he was wearing when he left home.
His daughter, Gayle, circulated a photograph of her father and explained that he had been wearing:
- A white cap with a dark brim
- A navy-blue boiler suit
- Green Wellington boots
- A green waterproof jacket
- A red-collared jacket underneath his overalls
His niece, Katy, has also urged people to keep sharing the appeal, hoping that someone may recognise Tom or remember seeing him on the morning he disappeared.
For the family, every possible sighting could be important. They are hoping that a small detail someone might have overlooked could help police piece together what happened.
STORM BOELO ADDS TO CONCERNS
Tom disappeared shortly before Storm Boelo brought severe weather to parts of Scotland.
The storm brought strong winds and difficult conditions, raising further concerns among those following the search. However, police have not confirmed any connection between the storm and Tom’s disappearance.
There is currently no established explanation for what happened after he was last seen by his family.
Investigators continue to appeal for information rather than speculate about the circumstances. <Cite refs={[“turn128001search2″,”turn128001news12″,”turn128001search0”]}/>
POLICE URGE THE PUBLIC TO CHECK DASHCAM FOOTAGE
Tom is described as white, approximately 6ft 1in tall, with grey hair.
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Stonehouse or Westmains Farm area on the morning of Friday, October 23.
Walkers are being asked to think back to any possible sightings, while motorists are urged to review recordings from their dashcams. Residents should also check sheds, gardens and other buildings on their properties.
Even a brief sighting or a seemingly insignificant detail could help officers establish Tom’s movements.
Anyone who has seen Tom or has information that could assist the search is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 2759 of October 23.
A FAMILY STILL HOPING FOR ANSWERS
For Tom’s loved ones, each passing day without news brings more uncertainty.
A father, uncle and member of the local community has been missing for more than a week, and those closest to him are still waiting to learn what happened.
Police Scotland continues to appeal for the public’s help as specialist teams carry on their search.
His family is hoping that someone who was in the area that morning will remember something that could make a difference.
If you were near Westmains Farm or Stonehouse on October 23, please consider whether you saw Tom or captured anything on camera. Your information could be important in helping bring him home.
