10-Year-Old Philadelphia Girl Found Dead in New Jersey; Foster Mother Charged With Murder After Disturbing Investigation

A heartbreaking case involving a missing 10-year-old Philadelphia girl has taken a devastating turn after authorities confirmed that her body was discovered inside the trunk of a vehicle in New Jersey. Her foster mother has now been arrested and charged with murder.

The child, identified by authorities as Malayshia Alford, had been reported missing from West Philadelphia on October 26, 2026. Her disappearance sparked an extensive search involving local police, the FBI, and community members who desperately hoped she would be found safe.

But during a press conference on Thursday, November 5, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and other officials revealed new details that changed the course of the investigation.

According to prosecutors, the last confirmed sighting of Malayshia alive was on Thursday, October 22, at a residence on the 500 block of North Simpson Street in West Philadelphia.

Surveillance footage recovered by authorities showed that at approximately 1:53 a.m. on Monday, October 26, someone appeared to be removing what investigators believe was the child’s body from the residence.

That footage became a critical breakthrough. It helped investigators identify a vehicle of interest and locate an individual connected to it.

After being interviewed by law enforcement, that individual provided information that ultimately led authorities to Malayshia’s body.

Around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, the 10-year-old was discovered inside the trunk of a vehicle in Lindenwold, New Jersey.

Her body was transported to the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office for examination. Officials confirmed that the preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma and that the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

During the press conference, prosecutors also indicated that investigators had uncovered evidence suggesting the child may have experienced abuse before her death. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Malayshia’s foster mother, 36-year-old Caprice Williams, was arrested and charged in connection with the case.

The charges include murder, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.

Officials have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing. Prosecutors have also indicated that additional information may emerge as the case moves forward.

The news has left Malayshia’s family, former teachers, neighbors, and members of the Philadelphia community devastated.

Her former teacher, Tashonna Moore, remembered her as a sweet and kind little girl, expressing the heartbreak felt by those who knew her.

At the press conference, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel spoke about the future the child should have had, saying:

“She deserved safety. She deserved to be loved. She deserved a chance to grow up.”

For the community that spent days hoping for a different outcome, those words captured the profound sadness surrounding the case.

A young girl who should have had years of childhood ahead of her is now at the center of an investigation that has raised painful questions about the circumstances surrounding her care and disappearance.

As authorities continue their work, Malayshia’s family has asked for privacy as they grieve their loss.

The case remains under investigation, and the charges against Williams are allegations that will be addressed through the legal process.
