TWO YEARS AGO, MANY WONDERED IF LULU GRIBBIN WOULD SURVIVE. TODAY, SHE’S INSPIRING THE WORLD.

TWO YEARS AGO, MANY WONDERED IF LULU GRIBBIN WOULD SURVIVE. TODAY, SHE’S INSPIRING THE WORLD.
In just 10 days, a date will arrive that changed one young woman’s life forever.
June 7, 2026, marks the second anniversary of the devastating shark attack that nearly took everything from Lulu Gribbin.
And yet, somehow, this story isn’t defined by what Lulu lost.
It’s defined by everything she has achieved since.
Two years ago, millions of people followed the heartbreaking story of a teenage girl from Mountain Brook, Alabama, who suffered catastrophic injuries after a shark attack. Lulu lost her left hand and her right leg in a battle for survival that captured the attention of people around the world.
The days that followed were filled with uncertainty.
Doctors fought to save her life.
Family and friends prayed.
Communities rallied around her.
And many wondered what the future could possibly look like for a young girl facing such overwhelming challenges.
Then Lulu began writing her answer.
One day at a time.
One step at a time.
One victory at a time.
Today, at 17 years old, Lulu has become one of the most remarkable examples of courage, determination, and resilience that many people have ever witnessed.
She recently completed her junior year of high school at Mountain Brook High School.
She learned to drive independently using a specially adapted vehicle.
She returned to the activities she loves and continues to push herself beyond limits that many believed impossible.
She has competed in PGA-sanctioned golf events, demonstrating not only athletic ability but extraordinary perseverance.
She wowed fans when she delivered a perfect ceremonial first pitch at the SEC Baseball Tournament.
She showed the world what determination looks like when she pulled herself out of the water behind a speedboat and successfully slalom skied with one leg.
For many people, accomplishing just one of those things would have seemed impossible after such a traumatic event.
Lulu accomplished all of them.
But perhaps her greatest impact has come away from the spotlight.
Through the Lulu Strong Foundation, she has become an advocate for amputees, helping others gain access to prosthetics, support, and modern medical technology that can transform lives.
Instead of focusing on her own hardships, she chose to help others facing similar challenges.
And then came another incredible milestone.
Just days ago, the U.S. House passed what has become known as Lulu’s Law.
The legislation aims to improve public safety by providing shark sighting warnings through cell phone alerts, helping beachgoers receive critical information more quickly.
The bill is now awaiting the President’s signature.
Think about that for a moment.
A teenager who endured one of the most traumatic experiences imaginable has helped inspire legislation that could help protect countless others in the future.
That is a legacy few people achieve in a lifetime.
Yet Lulu isn’t slowing down.
While many teenagers are beginning summer vacation, Lulu is currently serving on a mission trip, dedicating her time to helping people in need.
That’s who she is.
Not someone defined by tragedy.
Not someone who allowed circumstances to decide her future.
But someone who chose courage.
Someone who chose faith.
Someone who chose to keep moving forward.
It’s hard to believe that nearly two years have passed since Lulu awoke in a hospital bed and uttered the words that touched hearts everywhere:
“I made it.”
Those three simple words became a symbol of survival.
Today, they mean so much more.
Because Lulu didn’t just make it.
She fought.
She adapted.
She inspired.
She lifted others.
She turned unimaginable adversity into purpose.
And in doing so, she became one of the most inspiring comeback stories of our time.
Two years ago, people prayed for Lulu’s survival.
Today, people look to her as proof that strength can emerge from hardship, that hope can overcome fear, and that determination can change lives.
So let’s take a moment to celebrate Lulu Gribbin.
Thank her for inspiring us.
Thank her for showing what courage looks like.
Thank her for turning pain into purpose.
Thank her for making her community, her state, and countless supporters around the world proud.
The story isn’t over.
In many ways, it’s only beginning.
And if the last two years have taught us anything, it’s this:
The best chapters of Lulu’s journey may still be ahead.
We can’t wait to see what comes next, Lulu.
