Bus Driver Finds an Abandoned Bag Under a Seat, Then Freezes When He Unzips It and Sees a Terrified Little Boy Hidden Inside Alone at Night
Adam Lofner had spent years driving long-distance buses between cities. It was quiet work, lonely at times, but he took pride in getting passengers safely from one place to another.
One evening, after finishing a route from Detroit to Cleveland, Adam walked through the bus for his usual final check. Most seats were empty, scattered with wrappers and forgotten receipts. Then he noticed a large sports bag tucked beneath one of the back seats.

At first, he sighed, thinking it was just another lost item he would have to report. But when he reached down to lift it, the bag felt strangely heavy. Then it moved.
Adam froze.
With shaking hands, he unzipped it. Inside, curled up and frightened, was a little boy no older than four. His eyes were wide with fear, and his small arms were covered with bruises.
Adam gently lifted him out and asked his name.
The boy said he was Tommy. His mother had hidden him in the bag, hoping he could reach his aunt before his father found out. They had no money for a ticket, and she was afraid of what might happen if they stayed.
Then Adam looked at the folded paper in Tommy’s pocket. It had an address written on it.
But there was one heartbreaking problem.

Tommy’s aunt lived in Pittsburgh. His mother had placed him on the wrong bus.
Tommy burst into tears, believing everything had gone wrong. Adam knelt beside him and promised he would not leave him alone.
Before long, the tired bus driver and the frightened child were sharing hot dogs at a roadside stop, slowly becoming friends on the long journey to Pittsburgh.
Hours later, when they arrived at the aunt’s door, nobody expected what she would reveal next.
