on Hudsons NICU journey

Hudson had a really good day today, and we are so thankful for every bit of progress. The only adjustment made was lowering his sodium slightly, and his lab results came back looking better overall. His CO2 was 84, and his bicarbonate was 43.

However, Hudson has also been having episodes that we are calling “night terrors.” During these moments, he does not fully wake up, but he begins screaming and crying, his oxygen levels drop, and his whole body turns blue. He had one episode last night, another early this morning, and one more around lunchtime today.

Hudson has had similar episodes before, but this time they feel different. In the past, he was usually able to wake himself up. With these last three episodes, it seems like he is still asleep while they are happening, and it takes quite a bit of stimulation to wake him. Once he wakes up, he quickly turns pink again and his oxygen levels return to normal.

Please continue to pray for our sweet boy and for the amazing team caring for him. We are especially praying for answers about what is causing these episodes and for wisdom on how to help Hudson through them safely. Every prayer, every kind word, and every bit of support means so much to our family.
