NADIA WAS BORN WITHOUT AN EAR AND WITH A RARE SKULL CONDITION THAT CHANGED HER LIFE FROM DAY ONE

A little girl whose arrival began with a frightening pregnancy emergency is now facing an uncertain future after doctors discovered she had been born without one ear and with significant differences to one side of her face.
Nadia’s parents never imagined their daughter’s first days of life would become the beginning of such a long medical journey.
Throughout the pregnancy, her mother underwent numerous examinations after struggling physically and spending much of the pregnancy on bed rest. Yet none of the tests revealed anything that prepared the family for what was to come.
A placental abruption caused heavy bleeding, leaving doctors with no choice but to deliver Nadia early by C-section. Her parents were terrified as they waited to learn whether their tiny daughter would be okay.

Thankfully, Nadia made it through those first difficult moments.
But soon after her birth, doctors discovered that she had been born without one ear. The right side of her face had also developed differently from the left, including around her right eye.
Doctors suspect Nadia may have Goldenhar syndrome, a rare congenital condition associated with differences in the development of the face, ears and other structures.
For her parents, the diagnosis was only the beginning of a journey filled with appointments, examinations and unanswered questions.
Since Nadia was born, she has undergone numerous tests, with doctors continuing to investigate her health. With each examination, the family has sometimes learned about another challenge that needs attention.

And perhaps the hardest part is not knowing what comes next.
Today, Nadia still needs considerable support in her everyday life. She is fed through a feeding tube and requires constant care and patience, especially because she often tries to pull the tube out when it becomes uncomfortable.
Alongside her feeding difficulties, Nadia needs regular rehabilitation to support her development. But finding appropriate therapy for such a young child through the public healthcare system has proved extremely difficult for her family.
Private rehabilitation could give Nadia more opportunities to progress, but the cost is a major burden.
There are also regular journeys to Olsztyn for medical examinations, as well as the ongoing expense of purchasing feeding tubes in the correct size for their growing daughter.

Despite everything, Nadia continues to move forward one small step at a time.
Her parents say the journey has taught them to celebrate moments that others might take for granted — every new skill, every peaceful day and every little sign of progress.
“We never imagined we would have to ask others for help,” her family says. “All we want is to give Nadia the care and opportunities she needs to grow and discover her own future.”
They know there may be many more appointments, therapies and challenges ahead. But behind every medical visit is the same hope: that Nadia will continue growing stronger and have every opportunity to build a happy life.
