21-Year-Old Woman Facing Leg Amputations Makes Emotional Plea After Legs Lock and Bend Backward

21-Year-Old Woman Facing Double Leg Amputation After Years of Severe Disability

Megan Dixon, 21, from Cambridgeshire, England, is preparing to undergo a life-changing medical procedure after years of living with functional neurological disorder (FND).

Megan has reportedly been unable to walk since she was around 14 years old. Over time, her legs became locked in position, with her knees eventually bending at approximately a 45-degree angle, causing her severe and persistent pain.

After consultations with medical specialists, doctors determined that double leg amputation was the best—and reportedly only—remaining option given the severity of her condition.

Megan is scheduled to undergo the amputation surgery in August 2026.

As she prepares for life after the procedure, she is also fundraising for a specialized wheelchair that she will need to maintain greater mobility and independence.

The journey has been extremely difficult, but Megan is looking toward the future and hoping that the surgery will give her an opportunity to live with less pain and greater freedom.

Her fundraising campaign is intended to help cover the cost of specialized mobility equipment that could play an important role in her rehabilitation and daily life following the surgery.
