PennWest Soccer Player Karoline Heintz Killed; Boyfriend Charged With Homicide

Karoline Heintz, 18, a soccer player at PennWest California, was allegedly stabbed to death, with her boyfriend, 18-year-old Royce Moser, facing a homicide charge in connection with her death.

Police said Karoline’s body was discovered inside her Jeep near the California Public Library at approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 20, 2026.

According to investigators, Moser allegedly involved his mother, Rachel Moser, after the attack. Authorities accuse her of helping clean up the scene and move the vehicle. She has also been arrested on charges related to tampering with evidence and obstructing the investigation.

Karoline’s family released a statement on August 21, describing the loss as “a parent’s worst nightmare” and saying they are seeking justice for their daughter.

The allegations against Royce and Rachel Moser have not been proven in court. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Karoline’s death.
