RAQUEL LEE SUES DISNEY: FORMER CHILD STAR ALLEGES ABUSE ON SET

Former child actress Raquel Lee Bolleau, now 39, has filed a civil negligence lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company, alleging she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by a former Disney employee while filming The Poof Point in 2001.

Lee was 14 years old at the time. According to the lawsuit, the unnamed employee allegedly supplied her with alcohol and assaulted her multiple times while the production was in Salt Lake City and later during a flight back to California.

SHE CLAIMS WARNING SIGNS WERE MISSED

Lee alleges that production personnel encouraged her to spend time with the employee and that she was separated from her guardian without adequate supervision.

The lawsuit further claims that adults on the production noticed significant changes in her behavior and performance, including that she appeared sick and intoxicated.

But Lee alleges that instead of investigating what was happening, Disney executives blamed her and described her as “out of control.” She says another planned role was subsequently canceled.

 WHAT DOES THE LAWSUIT ALLEGE ABOUT THE SET?

According to the complaint, Lee says the employee allegedly made inappropriate comments to her in front of other adults on the production.

She alleges that the behavior was visible to people working around the production, yet no one intervened.

These are allegations contained in a civil lawsuit and have not been proven in court. The employee identified in the complaint has not been publicly named.

 WHAT IS LEE SEEKING?

Lee is seeking damages for alleged emotional distress and economic losses, as well as punitive damages, legal fees and other costs. The complaint does not specify a total amount.

Her attorneys said the case is about accountability for adults and companies responsible for protecting children working in the entertainment industry.

Disney had not immediately responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment when the story was published.

Lee later continued working with Disney, including as the voice of Nubia Gross on The Proud Family. She also returned for the Disney+ revival The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, which ran from 2022 to 2025.

Now, more than two decades after The Poof Point, her lawsuit has brought renewed attention to the protections provided to child actors on film and television sets.

 A CASE NOW HEADING INTO THE LEGAL PROCESS

Lee’s allegations are now before the court, where the evidence and legal arguments will determine whether Disney can be held liable for the conduct she describes.

For now, the central question is not only what allegedly happened to a 14-year-old actress, but whether the adults and company responsible for her safety should have recognized the warning signs and intervened. ⚖️🔎
