A Tennessee family is describing the astonishing survival of a 4-month-old boy after a powerful tornado destroyed his family’s mobile home, swept him away in a bassinet and left him stranded in a fallen tree.

Sydney Moore, 22, was inside her Clarksville home Saturday evening with her two sons and boyfriend, Aramis Youngblood, 39, when the storm suddenly intensified.

Moore said she barely had time to react. As violent winds tore into the home, she grabbed her 1-year-old son, Princeton, and tried to shield him with her body.

Youngblood rushed toward baby Lord, who had been sleeping nearby. The tornado ripped the bassinet into the storm, carrying the infant away as debris and rain whipped through the area.

The mobile home’s walls soon collapsed. Youngblood attempted to reach his infant son but was himself lifted from the ground and thrown by the powerful winds.

After escaping the wreckage with Princeton, Moore realized Lord was missing.

Youngblood, despite suffering a dislocated shoulder, immediately began digging through debris and searching the surrounding area. After roughly 10 minutes, he found the baby about 30 feet from the family’s destroyed home.

Lord was alive and crying, lodged in a fallen tree.

The reunion came as emergency crews worked through widespread destruction. Moore recalled seeing Youngblood approach through heavy rain with their missing baby in his arms.

Lord had cuts to his face and later received treatment for an injury near his ear. Despite the frightening ordeal, responders determined that the infant was breathing and ultimately healthy.

The storm system devastated parts of Tennessee, with multiple tornadoes reported and at least six people killed. Hundreds of homes were destroyed, while thousands of residents were displaced.

Moore’s family was among those left without a home. Fallen trees crushed their vehicle and blocked emergency crews from immediately reaching them, forcing the family to walk more than a mile while searching for medical assistance.

A Clarksville firefighter who responded to the area recalled seeing the injured infant covered in mud and suffering facial cuts. An ambulance was nearby, allowing rescuers to quickly get Lord medical attention.

The family’s ordeal did not end with Lord’s rescue. Their possessions were largely destroyed, and they have temporarily moved into a hotel while relatives work to help them rebuild.

Caitlyn Moore, Sydney’s sister, created an online fundraiser to assist with expenses.

Amid the wreckage, the family also discovered something remarkable. A container holding the ashes of Sydney and Caitlyn’s mother, who died last year, was found intact among the remains of the home.

For Caitlyn, the survival of the ashes alongside her nephew’s incredible escape has deepened her belief that the family experienced a miracle.
