WOMAN, 45, PLUNGES TO HER DEATH AFTER EX-BOYFRIEND ALLEGEDLY KIDNAPS HER AND THROWS HER FROM BRIDGE — THEN JUMPS TO HIS OWN DEATH

A terrifying sequence of events unfolded in Italy after a woman was allegedly abducted from her own home by her former boyfriend — before investigators say she was thrown from a highway bridge.

Lorena Isceri, 45, from Florence, Italy, died on September 3 after what authorities are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide involving her former boyfriend, 38-year-old Federico Vella.

According to reports, Vella allegedly went to Isceri’s home in the Rifredi area of Florence, where he abducted her and forced her into the trunk of his car.

He then allegedly drove toward the A1 highway.

What happened next would leave investigators facing a series of disturbing questions. 

SHE MANAGED TO CALL POLICE

Despite allegedly being locked inside the vehicle, Isceri reportedly managed to contact police.

But according to PEOPLE, Vella allegedly took her phone before continuing toward the bridge.

When authorities arrived, they reportedly found Vella on the bridge.

Investigators allege that Isceri was thrown from the structure before Vella himself jumped.

Both died.

Authorities are now investigating whether Isceri died as a result of the fall or whether she had already been killed before being thrown from the bridge. An autopsy has been ordered to establish the circumstances surrounding her death. 

A BREAKUP THAT TURNED DEADLY

The tragedy came weeks after Vella reportedly posted a melancholic message on Instagram expressing his sadness over the end of their relationship.

But Isceri’s mother later described a much more frightening side of the relationship.

She reportedly told SkyTG24 that her daughter had spoken about the relationship and that she was afraid.

That detail has added another layer to the investigation as authorities try to reconstruct what happened before the alleged abduction.

Investigators are now examining the couple’s relationship, their recent communications and the events leading up to September 3.

ANOTHER WOMAN’S DEATH ADDED TO ITALY’S FEMICIDE CRISIS

Isceri’s death has also drawn attention to Italy’s continuing problem with violence against women.

According to feminist organization Non Una di Meno, 40 women have been killed in Italy so far in 2026, including seven allegedly killed by current or former partners.

The organization describes such killings as femicides — deaths connected to violence against women because of their gender. 

But investigators in Florence are still working to establish exactly what happened to Isceri.

Was she killed before reaching the bridge?

Did she die from the fall?

And what happened inside that car during the final moments before police arrived?

Those questions remain at the center of the investigation.

The Florence Prosecutor’s Office and mobile squad are investigating the case.

For now, the incident is being treated as an apparent murder-suicide, while authorities continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding Lorena Isceri’s death. 
