“THE PLANE IS ON FIRE” — EMERGENCY AUDIO REVEALS CHAOTIC RESCUE AFTER AMAZON CARGO PLANE CRASH IN MIAMI

Chilling emergency radio traffic has revealed the terrifying moments faced by firefighters after an Amazon cargo plane crashed into vehicles at Miami International Airport, leaving five people dead and five others injured.

The dramatic audio captured emergency crews scrambling to reach victims as flames engulfed the Boeing 767 and smoke poured from the wreckage.

At one point, a firefighter could be heard warning colleagues:

“The plane is on fire.”

The warning came as crews prepared to confront what officials described as an extremely dangerous and complicated rescue operation. 

THE BOEING 767 PLUNGED INTO CHAOS

Amazon Prime Air Flight 7598 was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when the Boeing 767-300 overran the runway at Miami International Airport shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.

The aircraft, operated by cargo carrier 21 Air for Amazon, smashed through the airport perimeter and struck multiple vehicles before coming to a stop.

The impact triggered a massive fire, sending thick black smoke into the sky.

More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units and around 200 emergency personnel responded to the scene. 

THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING

But firefighters faced another terrifying obstacle.

According to the emergency radio traffic reported by The Sun, the aircraft’s left engine was still running after the crash.

That made it dangerous for firefighters to approach the aircraft and search for people who might still be trapped inside.

The pilots reportedly told rescuers they could not simply shut the engine down because additional steps were required to de-energize the aircraft.

Firefighters eventually used large amounts of water in an effort to disable the running engine while simultaneously fighting the flames.

The situation was made even more dangerous by an active fuel leak.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Raied “Ray” Jadallah described the operation as a highly complex emergency. 

VICTIMS WERE TRAPPED

While crews battled the burning aircraft, other rescuers were trying to reach people trapped in vehicles hit by the plane.

One victim was reportedly pinned underneath a vehicle and required specialist rescue equipment.

The pilot and co-pilot were also trapped inside the aircraft following the crash.

Five people ultimately died.

Another five were taken to hospital, including three who were critically injured.

Authorities have not yet publicly identified those who died. 

THE FINAL MOMENTS OF FLIGHT 7598

Flight-tracking data indicated that the aircraft was travelling at approximately 129 mph when it left the usable runway.

The crash happened amid stormy weather, with thunderstorms and gusty winds reported in the Miami area.

However, investigators have not determined that weather caused the crash.

That question is now at the center of the federal investigation.

The National Transportation Safety Board has sent a team led by Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy, while the Federal Aviation Administration is also investigating. 

MIAMI AIRPORT THROWN INTO CHAOS

The disaster brought operations at one of America’s busiest airports to a temporary standstill.

All runways and taxiways were initially closed, while authorities imposed a ground stop so emergency crews could deal with the wreckage.

Two of the airport’s four runways were later reopened, but hundreds of flights were disrupted. 

For the families of those who died, however, the airport disruption is only a small part of the tragedy.

Five people will never return home.

Five others are recovering from serious injuries.

And the emergency audio now provides a frightening glimpse into what firefighters encountered when they arrived at the burning aircraft.

Amazon said it was devastated by the loss of life and was cooperating with authorities.

21 Air also expressed condolences and said its immediate priorities were supporting those affected and assisting investigators. 

The investigation is now turning to the question that could take months to answer:

Why did Flight 7598 run beyond the runway — and what happened in those final moments before the Boeing 767 crashed into the vehicles below?

For now, the emergency recordings offer only one part of the story.

But they reveal just how dangerous the rescue operation became after the aircraft came to a fiery stop in Miami.
