It was shortly after 4 p.m. when chaos erupted near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue.

Police said Cisneros, 49, approached a 68-year-old man and attacked him with a knife.

Within roughly 20 seconds, another person was attacked.

That victim was Erin Piacenti.

She was 32 years old.

She was a Bank of America vice president, a lawyer and a young mother who had recently returned to work after maternity leave.

Piacenti had welcomed a baby girl with her husband just five months earlier.

The day of the attack was reportedly her first day back at work after maternity leave.

She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital.

But she could not be saved.

The 68-year-old victim survived and was reported to be in stable condition.

THE FINAL MOMENTS

After the attacks, Cisneros moved toward an NYPD substation.

Officers confronted her and repeatedly ordered her to drop the knives.

Police attempted to stop her with Tasers, but the effort did not end the confrontation.

Authorities said Cisneros continued to threaten officers and moved toward them while armed.

Two officers then fired their weapons.

Cisneros was struck and later died at Bellevue Hospital.

The NYPD is investigating the police shooting as part of its standard review.
