More than six months after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson-area home, the mystery surrounding her case has taken another unexpected turn.

A neighbor reportedly saw people believed to be FBI investigators searching the desert brush behind Nancy’s home.

But there is a reason this report is attracting so much attention:

Arizona’s monsoon rains have dramatically changed the landscape.

Heavy flooding can move rocks, branches, soil and debris — potentially disturbing or exposing objects that may have been hidden for months.

A retired Pima County sheriff’s lieutenant told Fox News Digital that powerful floodwaters can essentially “move the environment,” pushing debris through washes and ravines.

In other words, the terrain investigators searched months ago may not look the same today.

And that raises a haunting question:

Could something that was hidden before now be visible?

Nancy was last seen around January 31, and authorities believe she was taken from her Catalina Foothills home. Her disappearance remains unresolved, and no suspect has been publicly charged in connection with the case.

But there is an important caveat.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has said its task-force investigators had not recently returned to the area, while the FBI has not publicly confirmed the reported search.
