GIRL, 3, DIES AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR WHILE CROSSING ROAD WITH HER MUM — JUST ONE DAY AFTER HER BIRTHDAY

A three-year-old girl died after being struck by a car while crossing the road with her mother — just one day after celebrating her birthday.

Elif Mavi Avli was walking alongside her mother, Merve, in Odunpazari, Eskisehir, Turkey, when the devastating incident unfolded.

CCTV footage captured the heartbreaking moment the mother and daughter attempted to cross the road.

A vehicle driven by 40-year-old Fatos Akil Bilgesoy can be seen approaching as Elif and her mother tried to move across the street.

The car struck them.

HER MOTHER SURVIVED

Merve suffered minor injuries in the collision and immediately rushed toward her daughter.

Witnesses also ran to help.

One passerby was seen carrying the severely injured little girl and attempting to get her to medical care.

Elif was initially taken to a private hospital before being transferred to Eskisehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

Despite efforts to save her, the three-year-old later died from her injuries.

SHE HAD JUST CELEBRATED HER BIRTHDAY

The timing of Elif’s death has made the tragedy even more painful for her family.

She had celebrated her third birthday only one day earlier.

Instead of continuing the birthday celebrations, her family was suddenly preparing for her funeral.

Her father, Fatih Avli, later described the unbearable contrast between celebrating his daughter one day and burying her the next.

Her uncle Ali Avli also spoke about the devastating reality facing the family, saying that one day he was choosing a present for his niece and the next he was choosing her grave.

DRIVER DENIES BEING AT FAULT

Bilgesoy has disputed the circumstances surrounding the collision.

She reportedly told authorities that she had been driving at only around 6 to 12 mph and claimed she immediately applied the brakes.

She also said she was shocked and could not clearly remember every detail of what happened.

However, CCTV footage has become an important part of the investigation, and the family has challenged an expert report concerning responsibility for the crash.

A lawyer representing Elif’s family said they had requested that Bilgesoy remain in custody, citing the death of the young child and the family’s suffering.

FAMILY DEMANDS JUSTICE

Bilgesoy was initially placed under house arrest before being taken back into custody following an appeal by prosecutors and Elif’s family.

She later appeared in court on suspicion of causing death by negligence.

The investigation remains ongoing.

For Elif’s family, however, the legal proceedings cannot change the reality they now face.

A little girl who had just celebrated her third birthday is gone.

And instead of remembering her latest birthday as a happy family milestone, her loved ones are now left asking for justice for a child whose life ended the very next day.
