BABY S WAS FOUND OUTSIDE THE MAIN HOME — AND THE LOCATION OF THE DISCOVERY HAS BECOME ONE OF THE MOST DISTURBING DETAILS OF THE CASE

A newborn baby girl was discovered inside an outbuilding in Sheffield — wrapped in a towel, placed in a blue bag and found on top of a washing machine. Four adults have now been charged with her murder.

The discovery of Baby S has shocked the community of Wincobank, Sheffield, after police were called to a property following concerns about the safety of an infant.

But when officers arrived, they did not find the newborn inside the main house.

Instead, prosecutors told a court that Baby S was found in an outhouse at an address in Holywell Heights, where she had been wrapped in a towel and placed inside a blue bag on top of a washing machine.

The circumstances surrounding how she came to be there are now at the center of a major criminal investigation.

A NEWBORN GIRL AT THE CENTER OF A SHOCKING CASE

Baby S was born in the early hours of August 30, 2026, at an address in Sheffield.

Prosecutors told the court that she was born at approximately 37 weeks.

Her mother, Andrea Skopova, 20, later went to hospital. Medical staff alerted police shortly after 5 a.m. after concerns were raised about the newborn’s safety.

Officers went to the address but Baby S was not there.

They then attended the property in Holywell Heights.

That was where investigators made the disturbing discovery.

33 WOUNDS FROM 15 SEPARATE STABBINGS

A post-mortem examination found that Baby S died from stab wounds.

At Sheffield Magistrates’ Court, prosecutor Luke Hopkinson told the court that the newborn had suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings.

The injuries were described as affecting her face and torso, front and back. Prosecutors also said medical evidence indicated that the baby was alive when the injuries were inflicted.

A potential weapon has reportedly been recovered and is being examined by investigators. Police have also obtained CCTV footage as part of the ongoing investigation.

FOUR ADULTS CHARGED

Four people have been charged with Baby S’s murder:

• Andrea Skopova, 20
• Peter Horvath Jr, 19
• Peter Horvath Sr, 38
• Nina Horvathova, 37

All four are Slovakian nationals.

In addition to the murder charge, they face allegations of causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.

Prosecutors allege that steps were taken to conceal what had happened, including the cleaning of the alleged crime scene.

A 15-year-old girl, who cannot legally be identified because of her age, has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice.

She was remanded in youth custody.

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of murder but remain on bail while the investigation continues.

BABY’S FATHER REMAINS UNKNOWN

The court also heard that Baby S’s father is currently unknown.

Prosecutors said Skopova was in a relationship with Peter Horvath Jr, but he is not believed to be the baby’s father.

The detail adds another unanswered question to an investigation in which police are still working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death.

A COMMUNITY LEFT IN SHOCK

The discovery has deeply affected residents in the Wincobank area.

Flowers were left near the police cordon as investigators continued working at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police Detective Chief Inspector Tom Woodward described the investigation as complex and urged members of the public not to speculate or share unverified information online.

Authorities have emphasized that protecting the integrity of the criminal justice process is essential as the case moves through the courts.

THE CASE WILL NOW MOVE TOWARD TRIAL

The four adults and the teenage defendant appeared at Sheffield Crown Court, where all were remanded in custody.

A trial has been scheduled to begin on April 12, 2027, and is expected to last approximately six to seven weeks. The next hearing is scheduled for October 2, 2026.

The defendants have the right to a fair trial and are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

For investigators, however, the questions remain.

Why was a newborn found in an outbuilding rather than inside the home?

Who was responsible for the injuries?

And what happened during the hours between Baby S’s birth and the moment police found her?

Those questions will now have to be answered in court.

For a baby who had lived for only hours, the circumstances of her final moments have already become the focus of one of Sheffield’s most disturbing ongoing criminal investigations.
