A newborn girl known publicly only as “Baby S” has become the center of a deeply disturbing criminal case in Sheffield after authorities were called to a property where the infant was found fatally injured.

Four people — including the woman prosecutors identify as the baby’s mother — have been charged with murder.

All four deny the allegations through the legal process and remain innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Their case is now heading toward a full Crown Court trial, provisionally scheduled to begin on April 12, 2027.

A NEWBORN GIRL AT THE CENTER OF THE CASE

Baby S was born in Sheffield shortly before the investigation began.

Police were called to Holywell Heights in Wincobank, Sheffield, on August 30, 2026, after concerns were raised about the newborn.

Emergency services attended, but the infant could not be saved.

The circumstances surrounding her final hours quickly became the focus of a major police investigation.

According to evidence heard in court, a post-mortem examination found that Baby S had suffered 33 separate injuries and had been stabbed 15 times.

Her body was later found wrapped in a towel and placed inside a blue bag on top of a washing machine in an outhouse at the property, prosecutors told the court.

That discovery has become one of the most disturbing details in the case.

FOUR PEOPLE CHARGED WITH MURDER

The four adults accused in the case are:

• Peter Horvath Jnr, 19
• Peter Horvath Snr, 38
• Nina Horvathova, 37

Prosecutors identify Skopova as Baby S’s mother.

Peter Horvath Jnr is described as her boyfriend, while Peter Horvath Snr and Nina Horvathova are his parents.

All four have been charged with murder, as well as offences relating to causing or allowing the death of a child and allegedly attempting to conceal the killing.

A 15-year-old girl, who cannot legally be named, has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of murder but remained on bail, according to police.

EMOTIONAL COURT APPEARANCE

The defendants appeared at Sheffield Crown Court as the case moved into its next stage.

The hearing was described as highly emotional.

Skopova and the teenage defendant were reported to have sobbed throughout proceedings, while members of the public gallery were also visibly distressed.

Judge Sarah Wright remanded all five defendants in custody and ordered them to return to court on October 2, 2026.

A provisional trial date was then set for April 12, 2027.
