Long before Finlee June was old enough to understand why strangers might notice her facial features, her older sister, Maylee, already instinctively knew how to stand beside her with unyielding love and protection. Finlee June was born in Florida with Treacher Collins syndrome, an extremely rare genetic condition that deeply affects the development and structure of facial bones and tissues. Because of this condition, her early years were filled with daunting hospital stays, complex surgical procedures, and continuous medical hurdles. Her childhood looked drastically different from Maylee’s, marked by sterile hospital rooms, monitoring equipment, and constant doctor visits instead of typical playground activities.

Yet, despite the immense weight of these circumstances, Maylee stepped effortlessly into her role as Finlee’s greatest defender and companion. As people often stared or asked insensitive questions about Finlee’s unique appearance, Maylee remained a steadfast presence by her side, ensuring her little sister never felt alone, different, or insecure.

Through every surgery, recovery period, and public encounter, Maylee’s quiet courage shielded Finlee from a harsh world. Her actions showed that family is built on acceptance, empathy, and an instinctual desire to protect the ones we love most.
