HE WAS ONLY 11 MONTHS OLD — THE SEARCH FOR BABY GRAYSON ENDED IN HEARTBREAK

Grayson Walton was reported missing in Kentucky. A desperate search followed — then investigators made a devastating discovery inside a Cleaton home.

An urgent search for 11-month-old Grayson Walton ended in tragedy this week after police found the baby deceased inside a home in Kentucky.

Grayson had been reported missing after his father returned from work and learned that the child was no longer where he expected him to be.

According to police, Grayson had been left in the care of 19-year-old Elijah Mayes while his father was at work.

Central City police responded to a reported disturbance on Saturday, September 12, in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue.

Officers spoke with Grayson’s father, who told investigators that Mayes had been responsible for caring for his son.

Police said Mayes initially told them that a family friend had picked Grayson up around 10 p.m. Friday night.

But when investigators located that person, she reportedly denied ever picking up the baby.

That contradiction quickly became a critical part of the investigation.

Investigators were later told that Grayson had last been seen with Mayes at a residence in the 300 block of Hillview Street in Cleaton.

Police obtained search warrants for properties connected to the investigation.
