🚨⚖️ WADE WILSON: TWO DEATH SENTENCES — SO WHY IS HE STILL ALIVE?

He was convicted of killing two women.

He was sentenced to death twice.

His jury voted 9–3 in one case and 10–2 in the other.

And yet…

Wade Wilson is still sitting on Florida’s death row.

No execution date has been publicly set.

No death warrant has been issued.

And the legal battle surrounding his sentences is far from over.

Wilson was convicted in the 2019 murders of Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz. In August 2024, a judge imposed two death sentences after the jury recommended capital punishment in both cases.

But the unusual jury votes immediately became an important part of the legal story.

Why?

Because Florida had changed its death-penalty law in 2023.

Under the newer law, a death recommendation no longer requires all 12 jurors to agree. At least 8 jurors can recommend death.

Wilson’s jury cleared that threshold twice.

9–3.

10–2.

But his defense argued that applying the newer law to murders committed in 2019 raised constitutional and legal questions.

That challenge eventually reached the Florida Supreme Court.

Then, on February 5, 2026, Wilson’s attorneys appeared before the court.

And the hearing became another unexpected chapter in the case.

His attorneys acknowledged that recent court decisions had affected the arguments they intended to make, according to reporting from Gulf Coast News Now.

But the death sentences remained.

And Wilson remained on death row.

So why hasn’t Florida carried out the sentences?

Because a death sentence is not the same thing as an execution date.

The case must move through the required appellate and post-conviction procedures.

And before Florida can carry out an execution, a death warrant must be issued.

That has not happened publicly in Wilson’s case.

Which leaves a striking situation:

⚖️ Two murder convictions.

⚖️ Two death sentences.

⚖️ Two non-unanimous jury recommendations.

⚖️ Years of legal challenges.

⏳ And still — no execution date.

For now, Wilson remains on Florida’s death row while the courts continue dealing with the legal issues surrounding his sentence.
