TWO CHILDREN, AGED JUST 7 AND 11, DIE IN HORROR CRASH — FIVE MORE CHILDREN RUSHED TO HOSPITAL

An ordinary journey home from school turned into an unimaginable tragedy when a car carrying seven children overturned in Victoria, Australia — leaving two young siblings dead and five others injured.

Sarah El Hawli, 7, died at the scene after the eight-seater vehicle rolled near Bacchus Marsh on Tuesday afternoon.

Her brother, Ossama El Hawli, 11, was rushed by air ambulance to the Royal Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Hours later, his death was confirmed.

A CAR CARRYING SEVEN CHILDREN

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Nerowie Road and Parwan-Exford Road shortly before 4:30 p.m.

A 34-year-old woman was driving the vehicle, which was carrying all seven children when it suddenly flipped and rolled.

Paramedics and members of the public rushed to help those trapped inside.

Sarah could not be saved.

Ossama was airlifted to hospital, but despite efforts by medical teams, he later died.

Five other children — including a toddler, three primary-school-aged children and a teenager — were taken to hospital with upper-body injuries described as non-life-threatening.

They were reported to be in stable condition.

The driver was also taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital for observation and was later discharged.

“THE SCENE WAS QUITE HECTIC”

The scale of the emergency response reflected just how serious the crash was.

Two helicopter crews, two intensive-care paramedic crews and seven Advanced Life Support crews were among those sent to the scene.

Detective Sergeant Tony Gentile described the situation as extremely distressing, with family members, witnesses, police and paramedics all converging at the crash site.

Seven children had been inside the vehicle.

Witnesses who stopped reportedly helped until emergency crews arrived.

A COMMUNITY IN MOURNING

The tragedy has deeply affected Australia’s Islamic community.

The Australian Islamic Centre described Sarah and Ossama as beloved members of the community and offered support to their devastated family.

Their deaths have left relatives facing the unimaginable loss of two children from the same family in a single incident.

There has also been some uncertainty in early reports over the exact relationship between the two young victims, with some reports describing them as siblings and others as cousins.

The Irish Sun identifies them as brother and sister.

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Police have not yet publicly established why the vehicle overturned.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by detectives from Victoria Police’s Major Collision Investigation Unit.

For now, one devastating fact remains: what began as a journey home from school ended with two children losing their lives and five others being taken to hospital.

Sarah was only seven.

Ossama was 11.
