NOAH WOODS, 3 — FATHER PAYS HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE AFTER BODY FOUND IN SUFFOLK POND

The father of three-year-old Noah Woods has shared a heartbreaking tribute to his son after a huge search ended with the discovery of the toddler’s body in a Suffolk pond.

Rhys Woods described Noah as the “sweetest and most innocent little boy”, saying the family was “absolutely heartbroken” by the loss.

Noah disappeared in Brantham, Suffolk, on Tuesday, September 15, after becoming separated from a relative while visiting a playground on Merriam Close. Police said he ran down an alleyway beside the playground toward a new-build housing estate and nearby Decoy Pond.

THE HUGE SEARCH FOR NOAH

A major search operation was launched almost immediately.

Specialist police teams were joined by HM Coastguard, Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service, the National Police Air Service, the Metropolitan Police Dive Team, Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue and ambulance services.

The search also brought an extraordinary response from the public, with around 1,300 people helping officers search the village and surrounding areas.

Noah was non-verbal and had partial hearing loss, meaning he would not necessarily have responded if rescuers called his name.

Police also released CCTV footage showing his last known movements near the playground as the search intensified.

THE HEARTBREAKING DISCOVERY

On Wednesday, September 16, Metropolitan Police dive specialists recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond.

At the time, formal identification had not yet been completed, but Noah’s family had been informed of the discovery.

The following day, Suffolk Police confirmed that the child had been formally identified as Noah.

Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious, although officers still had enquiries to complete before submitting a file to the Coroner.

“NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE PAIN”

Following the identification, Noah’s father Rhys shared an emotional message to thank the people who had searched for his son.

He wrote that there were “no words to describe the pain of this loss” and said Noah had been a loving and innocent child.

Rhys also said it appeared Noah had “made an impact across the whole nation,” thanking the thousands of people who had joined the search.

The family had spent the search hoping their little boy would be found safe.

Instead, their worst fears were confirmed when his body was recovered from the pond.

“YOU WILL BE LOVED FOREVER”

Rhys ended his tribute with a message to his son from himself, Noah’s mother and his little brother.

He wrote that Noah would “be loved forever” and “never be forgotten,” adding that it had been a privilege to be his parents and to have filled his three years with so much love.

The words came as the Brantham community continued to mourn the little boy.

Flowers, balloons, teddy bears and Bluey-themed tributes were left at the playground where Noah had last been seen.

A book of condolences was also opened for people to leave messages for his family.

A COMMUNITY UNITED FOR NOAH

The scale of the search brought together residents from Brantham and people who travelled from much further away.

Volunteers searched fields, woodland and surrounding areas while emergency crews worked around the clock.

Suffolk Police Superintendent Tom Pearse praised the public response, saying the county had rallied together during what became a deeply tragic situation.

Ipswich Town chairman Mark Ashton and captain Dara O’Shea also visited Brantham to pay their respects. The club said its players would wear black armbands during their upcoming matches in memory of Noah.

For Noah’s family, however, the enormous public response cannot change the devastating outcome.

Their little boy, who disappeared after a visit to a playground, is now being remembered by a community that spent more than a day desperately searching for him.

And as his father said in his final tribute, Noah will be loved forever and never forgotten.
