Mourners dressed in pink gathered to say a heartbreaking final goodbye to seven-year-old Valentina Foster, who died alongside her aunt in a devastating house fire in Middlesbrough.
Valentina, affectionately known as “TT”, was laid to rest on Friday, September 18, following a funeral service at St John’s Church in South Bank, North Yorkshire.
Her family had asked mourners to wear pink or lilac as they came together to remember a little girl they described as deeply loved.
A PINK FAREWELL FOR “PRINCESS TT”
A white horse-drawn carriage carried Valentina’s bright pink coffin along Normanby Road towards the church.
The coffin was covered with white and pink flowers, including a floral tribute reading “niece.”
Dozens of Valentina’s relatives and friends walked alongside the funeral procession as the community gathered to support the grieving family.
Six pallbearers wearing baby-pink T-shirts featuring photographs of Valentina carried her coffin from the carriage and into the church.
Floral tributes included displays spelling out her name, “granddaughter”, as well as fairy wings carrying the words “Princess TT.”
Other messages included “love you forever TT” and “fly high Princess.”
“NEVER IN THIS WORLD DID I THINK…”
Valentina’s grandmother, Valerie Foster, shared an emotional tribute ahead of the funeral.
In a message posted online, she described the devastating pain of having to say goodbye to her granddaughter.
She wrote that she was heartbroken and struggling to find words after losing Valentina.
The family had previously described the seven-year-old as “deeply loved”, saying her loss had changed their lives forever.
They said Valentina would remain in their hearts and would be remembered by her brothers and sisters.
VALENTINA DIED ALONGSIDE HER AUNT
Valentina died in a house fire in Grangetown, Middlesbrough, on August 26.
Her aunt, Natalie Foster, 34, also died in the blaze.
An inquest opening heard that both victims died from the effects of the fire. The court also heard that members of the public attempted to help those trapped inside the burning property.
The tragedy also left other people injured.
MAN CHARGED OVER THE DEATHS
A 23-year-old man, Jaden Wright, has been charged with two counts of murder, along with charges of grievous bodily harm with intent and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.
He is due to appear in court again on September 23.
The case remains active, and the allegations against Wright have not been proven in court.
For Valentina’s family, however, Friday was not about the court case.
It was about remembering a little girl whose life was cut tragically short.
With pink flowers, a pink coffin and messages calling her “Princess TT,” friends and relatives gathered to make sure Valentina was surrounded by love one final time.
Her family said she was deeply loved, missed beyond words and would remain in their hearts forever.
