LITTLE GUS LAMONT STILL MISSING NEARLY A YEAR AFTER VANISHING FROM REMOTE AUSTRALIAN PROPERTY

Nearly a year after four-year-old Gus Lamont vanished from his family’s remote property in South Australia, investigators still have no definitive answer about what happened to the little boy.

Gus was last seen on September 27, 2025, at Oak Park Station, about 40 kilometers south of Yunta and roughly 275 kilometers northeast of Adelaide. Despite an extensive investigation and repeated searches of the remote property, he has never been found.

AN EXTENSIVE SEARCH HAS FOUND NO TRACE

Gus’s disappearance triggered one of South Australia’s largest and most prolonged missing-person investigations.

Police, State Emergency Service volunteers, Defence personnel, specialist search teams, aircraft, dogs and Indigenous trackers have all taken part in efforts to locate him.

Investigators have conducted 11 major searches of Oak Park Station and surrounding areas. Earlier searches included dams, mine shafts and other locations across the vast property.

Yet police have repeatedly said they have found no evidence that explains where Gus went.

A renewed search in May also failed to uncover additional evidence. At the time, investigators said more than 830 pieces of information had been received from the public, including hundreds of Crime Stoppers reports.

POLICE INVESTIGATION REMAINS OPEN

In February, South Australian police declared Gus’s disappearance a major crime and said a person who had lived at Oak Park Station was considered a suspect.

Police stressed that Gus’s parents were not suspects.

Investigators have also said they found no evidence indicating that Gus had been abducted. Items including a vehicle, motorcycle and electronic devices were seized from the property for forensic examination, but police later said those examinations had not produced further lines of inquiry.

One of Gus’s grandparents remained a suspect as of the May police update. No one has been charged in connection with Gus’s disappearance.

The family members identified publicly in connection with the investigation have denied wrongdoing, and the grandmother has spoken publicly about the emotional toll of being treated as a suspect.

A FAMILY STILL WAITING FOR ANSWERS

Gus’s parents, Josh and Jess, have previously pleaded for information that could help bring their son home and establish what happened to him.

His grandmother Josie Murray also spoke publicly in June, saying the family continued to struggle with the unanswered questions surrounding his disappearance.

As the case approaches the one-year mark, police have not closed the investigation.

The latest update from South Australia Police indicates that investigators remain without evidence explaining Gus’s disappearance, while further investigative activity remains possible.
