PRESLEY GERBER, 27, DIES AT SANTA MONICA REHAB FACILITY AS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Presley Gerber had entered a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica seeking help.

Hours later, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber was dead.

Gerber was pronounced dead at approximately 9:45 a.m. on September 20, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating the death.

Police have described the case as a suspected overdose, while saying there is currently no indication of foul play. Dispatch calls reportedly referenced both an apparent overdose and cardiac arrest when emergency responders were sent to the facility.

But one major question remains unanswered.

What officially caused Presley Gerber’s death?

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has completed an examination, but the cause and manner of death have been deferred pending additional testing and studies. Officials said such cases can take several months before a final determination is made.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Gerber had entered the Santa Monica facility only hours before his death. Detectives are also investigating the possible source of drugs involved in the suspected overdose, although the investigation remains in its early stages.

The circumstances are especially painful because Gerber had previously spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and substance use.

In recent years, he used his social-media presence to encourage more open conversations about mental health. He launched a series called “Mental Health Mondays,” describing it as an effort to start conversations about issues people often keep hidden.

Gerber also built a career in modeling, following in the footsteps of his famous mother. He worked with major fashion brands including Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana and appeared alongside Crawford in a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial in 2018.

For his family, however, the headlines surrounding his career are now overshadowed by an unimaginable loss.

A representative for the family confirmed his death and asked the public to respect their privacy during what was described as an extremely difficult and painful time.

Presley was the eldest child of Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber.

He was 27 years old.

The investigation remains active, and the final medical findings have not yet been released.

Until those results are completed, the precise cause and manner of Presley Gerber’s death remain unknown.
