Nearly four months ago, 12-year-old Xavier Taylor was preparing for a championship baseball game when a baseball struck him during warmups.

In a matter of seconds, everything changed.

The young pitcher and shortstop was critically injured and rushed for emergency medical care. His family was suddenly facing a reality no parent ever expects — watching their child fight for his life.
