GUS LAMONT: $1 MILLION REWARD AS POLICE REVEAL NEW CLUES IN MISSING BOY MYSTERY

Almost one year after four-year-old Gus Lamont vanished from his family’s remote property in South Australia, police have announced a reward of up to A$1 million and revealed that unusual details spotted in aerial images could potentially lead to another search.

Gus, whose full name is August Lamont, disappeared from Oak Park Station near Yunta on September 27, 2025.

Despite one of the largest and most intensive missing-person searches undertaken by South Australia Police, there has been no confirmed trace of the little boy.

Now, as the first anniversary of his disappearance approaches, investigators are making another public appeal for information that could finally explain what happened to him.

GUS VANISHED IN JUST 30 MINUTES

Gus was last seen at around 5pm on September 27, 2025, playing outside the family homestead at Oak Park Station.

About half an hour later, his family went outside to call him inside.

He was gone.

The enormous property, located around 300 kilometres northeast of Adelaide, immediately became the centre of a massive search operation involving police, emergency services, volunteers, defence personnel, Aboriginal trackers, dogs, drones and aircraft.

Gus had been described as both shy and adventurous.

His parents, Joshua Lamont and Jessica Murray, have repeatedly appealed for information about their son.

In an emotional video released ahead of the anniversary, his parents said they were desperate for answers.

“We believe that someone knows something,” Joshua said.

“Someone knows what happened to Gus, and may even know where he is.”

A MASSIVE SEARCH HAS FOUND NO TRACE

South Australia Police have conducted 11 separate ground searches over 30 days, while extensive aerial searches have also been carried out.

Police say investigators have searched huge areas surrounding Oak Park Station using specialised equipment.

The official investigation has involved more than 160 police officers and hundreds of additional resources, while earlier searches covered almost 100 square kilometres around the homestead and included dams and mine shafts.

In May, detectives conducted another three-day search of the property.

That operation also failed to uncover new evidence.

At that stage, investigators said one of Gus’s grandparents remained a suspect in the disappearance.

Police have previously stressed that Gus’s parents are not suspects.

POLICE SPOT “ANOMALIES” IN AERIAL IMAGES

One of the latest developments has raised the possibility of another search.

Detectives have been conducting a detailed review of aerial imagery covering vast areas around Oak Park Station.

According to Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke, investigators have identified “some anomalies” in the images.

However, police have not confirmed what those anomalies are or whether they are connected to Gus.

The images are being reviewed before investigators decide whether another physical search should take place.

That distinction is important.

The imagery has not confirmed that Gus or his remains have been located. At this stage, it represents information that investigators believe warrants further assessment.

A$1 MILLION REWARD ANNOUNCED

On September 23, South Australian authorities announced a reward of up to A$1 million for information connected to Gus’s disappearance.

According to South Australia Police, the reward can be paid for information leading to the conviction of the person or people responsible for his disappearance and/or the recovery of his remains.

Police said the disappearance was formally declared a major crime in February 2026, reflecting the seriousness of the investigation.

Detective Superintendent Fielke urged anyone with information to come forward.

The reward announcement has already generated new information.

Within the first day, police said 34 Crime Stoppers calls and two emails had been received following the announcement, with additional calls coming in during the week as media attention increased.

Investigators said the new reports were being assessed.

POLICE NO LONGER BELIEVE HE SIMPLY WANDERED AWAY

The investigation has changed significantly since the first days of the search.

Initially, authorities considered the possibility that Gus may simply have wandered away from the homestead.

But after months of investigation and extensive searching, police said they had effectively ruled out the possibility that he had simply wandered away or had been abducted by an unknown person.

Investigators instead turned their attention toward the possibility that someone known to Gus may have been involved.

Police have identified a suspect, but have not publicly named that person or established publicly that they were responsible for Gus’s disappearance.

HIS PARENTS ARE STILL WAITING

For Gus’s parents, the passing of time has brought another painful series of milestones.

Their son has missed his fifth birthday, while his younger brother has also reached important milestones during the year Gus has been missing.

Jessica described Gus as a “beautiful, sweet and unique little boy” who loved music, stories and playing in nature.

The family says they want him home and desperately need answers.

Almost a year after Gus disappeared, there is still no confirmed explanation for what happened to him.

But police say the investigation remains active.

And now, with a A$1 million reward, dozens of fresh tips and possible anomalies identified in aerial imagery, investigators are hoping that one piece of information could finally break the case open.

For Gus’s family, the question remains painfully simple: Where is their little boy?
