A NEWBORN BABY’S LIFE ENDED JUST HOURS AFTER SHE ENTERED THE WORLD

A heartbreaking case in Sheffield, England, has left a community deeply shaken after a newborn baby girl was found dead at a property shortly after her birth.

The baby, previously identified in court only as “Baby S,” has now been named Maria Skopova following the opening of an inquest.

Maria was born and died on August 30, 2026, at a property in the Wincobank area of Sheffield. Emergency services were called to the home after concerns were raised about the newborn.

A DISCOVERY THAT SHOCKED THE COMMUNITY

Maria was found in an outhouse at the property.

A forensic post-mortem examination determined that her cause of death was stab wounds. Prosecutors later told the court that the newborn had suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings.

These details form part of the prosecution case and have not been proven at trial.

Flowers and tributes have since appeared outside the property as local residents mourn the loss of a baby who had only just begun her life.

FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES

Four adults — Andrea Skopova, 20; Peter Horvath Jr., 19; Peter Horvath Sr., 38; and Nina Horvathova, 37 — have been charged with murder.

They also face charges relating to causing or allowing the death of a child and allegedly taking steps to conceal the killing.

A 15-year-old girl has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice and cannot be legally identified.

All defendants are entitled to a fair trial, and the charges remain allegations unless and until proven in court.

THE CASE WILL RETURN TO COURT

An inquest into Maria’s death has been opened and adjourned while the criminal proceedings continue.

The four adults are expected to stand trial in April 2027, with the trial expected to last several weeks. The inquest is scheduled to resume on March 25, 2027.

For now, many questions surrounding the newborn’s final hours remain unanswered.

But one thing has already left a lasting mark on the community:
