The Cannon Hall Farm community has rallied around Farmer Ruth and her family after her husband, Dave, was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer.

Dave is currently undergoing intensive treatment, including daily chemotherapy and radiotherapy, as the family faces an incredibly difficult and uncertain period together.

Ruth and Dave have two sons, and a fundraiser was launched to help ease some of the financial and practical pressures facing the family while they focus on spending precious time together.

RUTH STRUGGLES TO HOLD BACK TEARS

In a recent video shared with supporters, Ruth thanked everyone who had sent messages, comments and donations following Dave’s diagnosis.

Visibly emotional, she told followers that the support had been overwhelming and that the family still had a “bigger challenge” ahead.

At one point, Ruth had to pause as she fought back tears.

Her heartfelt message prompted an immediate wave of support from people who have followed her work at Cannon Hall Farm and watched her care for its animals over the years.

 THOUSANDS RALLY AROUND THE FAMILY

A GoFundMe campaign was created to support Ruth, Dave and their two boys.

The fundraiser says the money will be available for the family to use in whatever way helps them most in the months ahead — with the goal of giving them more freedom to concentrate on being together, making memories and supporting one another.

The campaign had raised £19,843 from more than 1,000 donations toward a £24,000 goal in its latest available listing.

Supporters have left hundreds of messages alongside their donations, sending Ruth and her family love, strength and encouragement.

Ruth has continued to thank the Cannon Hall Farm community for standing beside her family during what she described as an extremely difficult period.

Despite the pain surrounding Dave’s diagnosis, her message to supporters has remained one of gratitude.

For the many people who know Ruth through Cannon Hall Farm, she has become a familiar face — someone they have watched caring for animals and sharing everyday life at the farm.

Now, that community is returning the support.
