CANNON HALL FARM FANS RALLY AROUND FARMER RUTH AND HER FAMILY AFTER DEVASTATING NEWS

More than 1,000 people have come together to support Farmer Ruth and her family after her husband Dave was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

For years, Farmer Ruth has been a familiar and much-loved face to the Cannon Hall Farm community, welcoming visitors, caring for animals and sharing life on the Yorkshire farm with thousands of followers.

But now, fans are rallying around Ruth and her family after they received devastating news about her husband, Dave.

According to a fundraiser organized to support the family, Dave has been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer and is undergoing intensive treatment, including daily chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Ruth and Dave are also parents to two sons, making the situation even more difficult for the family.

The fundraiser was launched in July with a simple goal: to give the family financial breathing room while they focus on one another and make the most of the time ahead.

And the response has been overwhelming.

More than 1,000 people have donated, with the campaign raising approximately £19,843 toward its £24,000 goal at the latest update.

The appeal describes Ruth as a special part of the Cannon Hall Farm family and says supporters wanted to give people who had followed her story the opportunity to show their love and support.

The money raised will allow Ruth and her family to decide how best to use the funds during an incredibly difficult period — whether to ease financial pressure, spend precious time together or simply create memories as a family.

Cannon Hall Farm, based in Cawthorne near Barnsley, has become one of Yorkshire’s best-known family attractions and is also familiar to television audiences through programmes including Springtime on the Farm.

The farm’s farmers have built a large following online, where viewers regularly see behind-the-scenes moments involving the animals, farming life and the people who keep the attraction running.

Ruth has become particularly well known among those followers.

Her story has prompted an extraordinary response from people who may never have met her personally but feel connected to the family through years of watching the farm online.

The fundraiser says supporters can help not only through donations but also through sharing the appeal and sending messages of encouragement.

THE COMMUNITY HAS NOT FORGOTTEN THEM

The support comes as the Cannon Hall Farm team continues with its busy year.

The farm’s official website continues to feature regular updates from its farmers, including Rob and Dave, while the attraction remains open to visitors and hosts events throughout the year.

Dave has also continued to be part of the wider Cannon Hall Farm story, with the farm’s online channel featuring Rob and Dave in programmes and special broadcasts during 2026.

For many followers, however, the focus now is much more personal.

This is no longer simply about a television personality or a familiar face from a popular farm attraction.

It is about a husband, a father and a family facing an extraordinarily difficult chapter.

The fundraising appeal makes clear that people do not need to make a large contribution to help.

Every donation, every share and every message is described as meaningful to Ruth, Dave and their sons.

The campaign organizers say the hope is to reduce some of the pressures surrounding the family so they can concentrate on what matters most: being together, spending precious time as a family and making memories.

With thousands of people following Cannon Hall Farm and its farmers, the response has shown just how strongly Ruth and her family are connected to the wider community.

And as the family continues through Dave’s treatment, that community is making one message clear:

Ruth and her family are not facing this alone.
