EMMA WILLIS REVEALS THE FRIGHTENING MOMENT SHE COLLAPSED AND WAS RUSHED TO A&E
The Strictly Come Dancing presenter has opened up about a frightening experience while filming a medical documentary, recalling how she fainted during a hospital procedure and needed emergency checks. The incident happened years ago, not in a newly reported health emergency.
LONDON, ENGLAND — Emma Willis has spoken candidly about the moment she suddenly lost consciousness while gaining hands-on experience in a hospital during the filming of her medical documentary, Emma Willis: Delivering Babies.
The television presenter, now part of the presenting team for Strictly Come Dancing, recalled the experience during an appearance on comedian Tom Allen’s Pottering podcast, released on October 8, 2026.
Willis had trained as a maternity care assistant and spent time working alongside NHS staff for the Channel 4 documentary. Her interest in healthcare was inspired in part by her mother, who had worked in the NHS.
THE MOMENT SHE REALISED SOMETHING WAS WRONG
While observing a post-birth repair procedure in an operating theatre, Willis began to feel unwell.
She told hospital staff that she did not feel okay, and they helped her toward the exit. She then fainted and was carefully lowered to the floor by a member of the team.
When she regained consciousness, she was confused about where she was and why she was lying on the ground.
The presenter later recalled the surreal moment of seeing a pair of Crocs as she came around, before gradually realising what had happened.
EMERGENCY CHECKS FOLLOWED
Because she had lost consciousness, Willis was taken to the accident and emergency department for further assessment.
She said medical staff carried out blood tests and an electrocardiogram (ECG) before allowing her to return home. A member of the production team accompanied her in case she became unwell again.
Looking back, Willis admitted that she had felt embarrassed by the incident, although she also described how the hospital staff later joked with her about fainting during the procedure.
A STORY FROM HER EARLIER CAREER — NOT A NEW HOSPITAL EMERGENCY
The account has attracted renewed attention as Willis takes on her new role presenting Strictly Come Dancing in 2026.
However, the reports published this October recount an earlier experience from her time filming the medical documentary. They do not report that she has recently collapsed or been rushed to hospital because of a new health problem.
Willis has built a long television career, presenting programmes including Big Brother and The Voice UK. Her move to Strictly Come Dancing marks another major chapter in her broadcasting career.
Her story also offers a reminder that even people who feel comfortable around medical settings can sometimes experience an unexpected physical reaction.
For now, the widely shared health-scare headline should not be mistaken for breaking news about a recent medical emergency.
