STRICTLY STAR EMMA WILLIS RUSHED TO A&E AFTER COLLAPSING — “I WOKE UP AND DIDN’T KNOW WHERE I WAS”

The television presenter has opened up about a frightening medical incident that left her needing hospital checks, revealing the moment she regained consciousness was deeply confusing.

LONDON, UK — Strictly Come Dancing presenter Emma Willis has revealed that she was rushed to accident and emergency after passing out while filming her medical documentary, prompting renewed attention to a frightening experience she has described publicly.

The 50-year-old presenter recalled the incident during an appearance on comedian Tom Allen’s Pottering podcast, released in October 2026. The episode took her back to the filming of Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, the Channel 4 documentary series that saw her train and work alongside maternity staff.

Willis explained that she had been observing a post-birth procedure in theatre when she began to feel unwell.

She alerted a member of staff that she was feeling faint. As she was guided out of the room, she lost consciousness and was helped safely to the floor.

When she came around, she was confused about her surroundings and struggled to understand why she was in hospital.

She later recalled seeing a pair of Crocs and initially thinking about an entirely different situation, before the events gradually came back to her.

WHY SHE WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

Because Willis had passed out, medical staff sent her to A&E for further checks.

She said clinicians took blood samples and performed an electrocardiogram (ECG) to assess her heart. After the examinations, she was allowed to leave, accompanied by a member of the production team in case she felt faint again.

Willis admitted she felt embarrassed by what had happened, although she recalled that staff eventually saw the lighter side of the incident.

Her account does not indicate that she was hospitalised because of a newly reported illness in 2026. Rather, she was reflecting on an earlier event from her work on the documentary.

HER PASSION FOR MATERNITY CARE

Willis took on the documentary project in 2018, inspired in part by her mother’s work in the NHS.

She trained as a maternity care assistant and spent time working alongside hospital staff, going beyond the role of a presenter to gain a better understanding of the demands of maternity care.

The experience gave viewers an insight into the emotional and practical challenges faced by healthcare professionals—and, as Willis’s story illustrates, how intense it can be to witness medical procedures at close range.

EMMA WILLIS CONTINUES HER STRICTLY JOURNEY

Willis is currently one of the new presenters of Strictly Come Dancing, alongside comedian Josh Widdicombe and professional dancer Johannes Radebe. The trio took over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman for the 2026 series.

Although her story describes a frightening experience, there has been no confirmed report in the sources cited here that she has recently collapsed or been rushed to hospital during the current series.

Her candid account instead offers a reminder of how unexpectedly someone can become unwell—and why medical assessment after losing consciousness is important.

For fans, the revelation provides a more personal glimpse into the presenter’s life away from the ballroom.
