“OUR BEAUTIFUL HANNAH” — FAMILY’S HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE TO ROYAL FAMILY GP AS HUSBAND FACES MURDER CHARGE
Dr Hannah Cain, known to her patients as Dr Hannah Terry, is being remembered as a kind, generous and devoted mother whose work touched countless lives. Her family is grieving as court proceedings continue against her husband, who has been charged in connection with her death.
A family’s world has been turned upside down following the death of Dr Hannah Cain, a 45-year-old GP who served patients near the Royal Family’s Sandringham residence in Norfolk, England.
Her family shared a deeply personal tribute after she was found dead at her home in Dersingham on October 4, 2026. They remembered her as “our beautiful Hannah” — a beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie, daughter-in-law and friend.
The loss has also shaken the local medical community, where colleagues and patients have spoken about her warmth, professionalism and dedication to caring for others.
“Kind, generous and loving”
In their statement, Hannah’s family expressed their devastation and pride in the woman she was.
They said they were incredibly proud of the care she gave her patients, many of whom knew her professionally as Dr Terry. They also asked the public to respect their privacy as they navigate an extraordinarily painful time.
For those who knew her beyond the headlines, Hannah was more than a doctor connected to a royal residence. She was a mother and a loved one whose place in her family’s life cannot be replaced.
A doctor dedicated to her patients
Hannah was listed as a member of the practice team at Grimston Medical Centre and had worked as a qualified doctor for more than 15 years, including eight years as a GP, according to information published by her professional business.
Reports said she was part of a pool of doctors available to care for members of the Royal Family when they stayed at Sandringham. Her professional life also included running a cosmetic business.
Following news of her death, tributes were shared by medical colleagues and patients who remembered her as compassionate, intelligent and someone who made people feel listened to.
Her husband has been charged
Hannah’s husband, Mark Cain, 45, appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on October 7, charged with her murder. He was remanded in custody and appeared at King’s Lynn Crown Court the following day, where he was remanded until a plea hearing scheduled for December 3, 2026.
At the initial hearing, the court was told that Hannah had been found unconscious and not breathing in an upstairs bedroom. Prosecutors also referred to injuries recorded during a post-mortem examination.
These details form part of the court proceedings; the charge against Mark Cain is an allegation, and he is entitled to a fair trial. A charge is not a finding of guilt.
Norfolk Police have said the investigation is ongoing, while Hannah’s family continues to grieve her loss.
A community left mourning
The circumstances surrounding Hannah’s death have drawn widespread attention because of her medical work near Sandringham. But the tributes from her loved ones and patients tell a more intimate story: that of a woman who cared for others and was cherished by the people who knew her.
Flowers and messages were left near her workplace as the local community sought to express its sorrow.
For her family, however, the focus remains on the person they have lost — their beautiful Hannah, whose life meant far more than the public attention surrounding the case.
As the legal process continues, her family’s words stand as a tribute to the mother, daughter, sister and friend they will always remember.
