At just 18, Gabriela was at the beginning of adulthood, with new opportunities and experiences ahead of her.

She was a recent graduate of Colegio de Bachilleres, Plantel 10, in Cabo San Lucas. Following the news of her passing, her former school shared a heartfelt tribute, remembering her as a young woman whose smile, kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on those around her.

The school community expressed its condolences to Gabriela’s loved ones, reflecting the deep sadness felt by those who knew her.

For her family and friends, the loss is immeasurable. A night spent at a local festival has become a painful memory that they will carry with them for years to come.

 AUTHORITIES LAUNCH INVESTIGATION

Following the incident, the amusement ride was suspended while authorities began investigating what happened.

The General Prosecutor’s Office of Baja California Sur is leading the investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding Gabriela’s fall and determine whether any safety issues or other factors contributed to the incident.

Reports have raised questions about the ride’s restraint system and operating conditions. However, officials have not yet announced a definitive cause, and no conclusions about responsibility should be drawn before the investigation is complete.

The incident has also prompted renewed attention to the safety of temporary amusement attractions at public festivals, where families gather expecting to enjoy a safe day or evening together.

Local authorities have pledged to cooperate fully with investigators and provide support to Gabriela’s family.
