VOICE BEYOND LIMITS: NICOLE MONSALVE’S PURSUIT OF MUSIC AND JOURNALISM
Nicole Monsalve is a young Colombian woman determined to make her voice heard, both as a talented singer and an aspiring journalist. Born with Bosma arhinia microphthalmia syndrome—an extremely rare condition characterized by the absence of a nose and severe visual impairment—Nicole has consistently refused to allow a medical diagnosis to define her life, potential, or dreams.

When interviewed by Noticias Caracol in June 2025, the 20-year-old was already in her sixth semester studying Social Communication at Universidad Católica Luis Amigó in Medellín. Through her academic pursuits, she is mastering the art of storytelling and communication, laying a solid foundation for her future career in journalism.
Parallel to her studies, music plays a central role in Nicole’s life. With support from Fundación Uno+Uno, she has refined her vocal talents, sharing performances on social media and winning recognition in singing competitions. She enjoys performing boleros, pop, and ballads, drawing inspiration from artists like Cristian Castro. For Nicole, connecting with listeners through her singing remains one of the most rewarding experiences of her life.

Her passion for journalism and performance highlights a vibrant personality driven by clear ambitions. Whether delivering a heartfelt ballad or preparing to report someone else’s story, Nicole uses her unique perspective and voice to bridge connections and inspire others.
