BODY FOUND IN SEARCH FOR MISSING 19-YEAR-OLD GEORGIE NOLAN AFTER DAYS OF CANAL SEARCHES

A major search in Wiltshire has taken a heartbreaking turn after police discovered a body while looking for Georgie Nolan, who disappeared near the Kennet and Avon Canal. Her family has been informed, but formal identification is still pending.

A search for a missing 19-year-old woman has entered a devastating new stage after police discovered a body in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire.

Georgie Nolan was last seen in the early hours of Saturday, October 24, near The Barge Inn and the Kennet and Avon Canal. Her disappearance prompted an extensive operation involving police, specialist rescue teams and volunteers who searched the water and surrounding areas.

On Tuesday, October 27, Wiltshire Police confirmed that a body had been found during the search.

Authorities stressed that formal identification had not yet taken place. Although Georgie’s family had been informed of the discovery and was receiving support from specially trained officers, police had not officially confirmed that the body was hers.

Georgie was believed to have been walking near the canal at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday. When she could not be located, concerns grew that she might have entered the water.

Police appealed for information as the search expanded around Bradford-on-Avon. Georgie was described as approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and having numerous piercings.

The search focused on the canal and boats moored nearby, including areas behind The Barge Inn. Rescue personnel worked carefully along the waterway as officers tried to establish what had happened after she was last seen.

SPECIALIST RESCUE TEAMS JOINED THE OPERATION

The search involved Wiltshire Search and Rescue, Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue, Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs and specialist police divers from Avon and Somerset.

Volunteers used underwater cameras and long poles to inspect areas beneath moored boats and along the canal. Searchers also entered the water as the operation continued over several days.

The effort reflected the growing concern for Georgie’s safety and the challenges of searching a narrow waterway with boats and other difficult-to-access areas.

After four days of searching, police announced the discovery of a body in the Bradford-on-Avon area on Tuesday afternoon.
