SIR TOM JONES, 86, POSTPONES MORE US CONCERTS ON DOCTOR’S ORDERS AFTER BATTLE WITH SEVERE FLU
The legendary Welsh singer has been forced to postpone additional performances in California, leaving fans concerned as he takes more time to recover.
Sir Tom Jones has postponed more of his highly anticipated US concerts after receiving further medical advice from his doctor.
The 86-year-old music legend announced on Friday, October 30, that his upcoming performances in Sacramento and San Francisco would not go ahead as scheduled.
His Sacramento concert, originally planned for October 31 at Hard Rock Live, and his November 1 performance at The Masonic in San Francisco have both been postponed until further notice.
In a message to fans, Jones apologized for the disruption, explaining that he had received further advice from his doctor.
The latest announcement comes just days after the singer revealed that he had been struck by what he described as “a bad case of the flu.”
A SERIES OF SHOWS POSTPONED
The health setback first affected two California performances scheduled for October 26 and 27.
Jones announced that his Los Angeles and San Diego concerts would need to be rescheduled following his doctor’s advice.
He later confirmed another postponement involving his October 29 performance at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland, California.
That concert has now been moved to November 6.
The San Diego performance is scheduled for November 3, while the Los Angeles show is expected to take place on November 4.
The latest postponements in Sacramento and San Francisco mean even more fans will have to wait to see the legendary performer back on stage.
“A BAD CASE OF THE FLU”
Before announcing the first changes, Jones shared an explanation with fans about his unexpected illness.
He revealed that he had recently completed 20 performances across the United States and had enjoyed singing for audiences throughout the country.
However, he said he had unexpectedly been hit with a bad case of the flu.
Following medical advice, he decided that postponing the concerts was necessary.
Jones also apologized to ticket holders and said he looked forward to seeing them again soon.
No additional diagnosis has been announced, and the singer has not publicly described the illness as anything beyond the flu.
FANS WAIT FOR HIS RETURN
The singer’s decision to take additional time away from the stage has prompted concern among fans, particularly given his decades-long career and continued touring into his 80s.
Known around the world for hits including “It’s Not Unusual,” “What’s New Pussycat?” and “Delilah,” Jones has remained one of Britain’s most recognizable music performers for more than six decades.
Tickets for the postponed Sacramento and San Francisco performances are expected to remain valid for the rescheduled dates. Fans who cannot attend the new dates can seek refunds through their original point of purchase.
For now, the priority is giving the legendary singer the time his doctor has recommended to rest and recover.
His fans will be hoping that he is feeling better soon and can return to the stage when it is safe to do so.
