“I KNEW A PLANE WOULD TAKE HER FROM ME” — MOTHER’S HEARTBREAKING WORDS AFTER 20-YEAR-OLD CO-PILOT DIES IN FLORIDA JET CRASH
Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras was just 20 years old when the Learjet 60 she was flying aboard crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida. Her mother says she had always feared losing her daughter to aviation — but was incredibly proud that Nathalia had achieved the dream she worked so hard to pursue.
“I knew a plane would take her from me. I always knew, but I was so proud of her. I know she was living her dream.”
Those heartbreaking words came from Camila, the mother of 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, who was among nine people killed in a private jet crash in Florida.
Nathalia was serving as co-pilot aboard a Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
In an interview with the New York Post, Camila recalled how proud she had been of her daughter’s achievements, despite carrying a constant fear about the risks associated with her chosen profession.
For Nathalia, flying was never simply a job. It was a lifelong ambition that she had worked tirelessly to turn into reality.
Now, her family is left remembering a young woman whose future had seemed full of possibilities.
HER FINAL MESSAGE CAME JUST 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE CRASH
According to Nathalia’s 44-year-old stepfather, Thiago Corteleti, she was still communicating with loved ones shortly before the aircraft went down.
Corteleti told the New York Post that Nathalia had sent a message to her boyfriend at approximately 12:40 p.m.
The aircraft crashed around 12:50 p.m.
Her message reportedly described the difficult conditions she was experiencing during the flight.
“She just said: ‘I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice,’” Corteleti recalled.
Those brief words have become an especially painful memory for her family.
Just minutes later, the aircraft would enter its final descent, and communication from the crew would become increasingly urgent.
SHE HAD ALREADY ACCUMULATED 1,300 FLIGHT HOURS
Despite being only 20, Nathalia had already accomplished remarkable things in aviation.
She attended flight school, developed her skills as a pilot and later worked as a flight instructor before beginning her career in commercial aviation.
According to her family, she had accumulated approximately 1,300 flight hours and had been working as a commercial pilot for around nine months.
She was expected to celebrate her 21st birthday in January 2027.
Her journey reflected years of determination, training and dedication to the profession she loved.
For her mother, seeing Nathalia achieve her dream was a source of enormous pride.
But the dangers of aviation had always remained in the back of Camila’s mind.
THE FINAL RADIO CALLS FROM THE COCKPIT
Air traffic control recordings captured the crew reporting turbulence and icing conditions before the situation deteriorated.
The pilots communicated with controllers as they attempted to manage the emergency.
The crew eventually issued a Mayday distress call and reported that the aircraft was descending rapidly and that they were losing control.
In the final moments, the situation became increasingly desperate.
One of the last recorded transmissions included the words:
“We’re out of time.”
The chilling communications have provided investigators with important information about the aircraft’s final moments.
However, the exact sequence of events leading to the crash and the factors that caused the aircraft to lose control remain under investigation.
NINE PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
The Learjet 60 crashed near Greenacres in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, 2026.
All nine people aboard — seven passengers and two crew members — died.
Among those identified were Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, and captain Jeff Gregory, 55.
The passengers included Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, their two young children, Emma and Charlie, as well as Anita Maria Cetina, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.
The tragedy has devastated families and friends connected to everyone aboard the aircraft.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the reported icing and turbulence.
No definitive cause has yet been established.
A DAUGHTER WHO WAS LIVING HER DREAM
For Camila, the loss is especially painful because she knows how much flying meant to her daughter.
She had watched Nathalia work toward her ambitions, complete her training and finally begin the professional career she had always wanted.
Her daughter had barely reached adulthood, yet she had already accumulated significant experience and taken important steps toward building her future.
The mother had feared that aviation might one day take Nathalia away.
Now, those fears have become a devastating reality.
But alongside the heartbreak remains the pride of a mother who watched her daughter pursue something she truly loved.
Nathalia will be remembered not only as a young co-pilot aboard a tragic flight, but also as a daughter, a loved one and a determined young woman who was living the dream she had worked so hard to achieve.
Our thoughts are with Camila, Thiago, Nathalia’s boyfriend and everyone who loved her, as well as the families of all nine victims.
May they all rest in peace.
