ENTIRE FAMILY OF FOUR KILLED IN FLORIDA PRIVATE JET CRASH — TWO YOUNG CHILDREN, AGED 4 AND 2, AMONG NINE VICTIMS
A family vacation that was supposed to bring joy and create beautiful memories ended in an unimaginable tragedy after a private jet crashed in Florida, killing all nine people aboard, including two parents and their two young children.
The victims included technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson, 45, his wife, Helen Sharp, 40, and their children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2.
The family was traveling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when their Learjet 60 went down near Greenacres in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Also aboard were Anita Maria Cetina, who helped care for the children, family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, and two members of the flight crew.
Authorities confirmed that all nine people aboard the aircraft lost their lives.
A FAMILY TRIP THAT NEVER REACHED ITS DESTINATION
The Learjet 60, operated by Aurora Aviation under the name Upper Jet, departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at approximately 10:37 a.m. Eastern time.
Its destination was North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.
The flight was expected to be a journey filled with excitement for the family. Instead, it became one of the most devastating aviation tragedies in the region.
As the aircraft approached South Florida, the crew began reporting difficult weather conditions to air traffic controllers.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the pilots reported moderate turbulence and light clear icing while flying at approximately 35,000 feet.
The crew initially described the icing as manageable, but conditions soon became increasingly concerning.
THE FINAL MOMENTS: A MAYDAY CALL BEFORE THE CRASH
At approximately 12:47 p.m., the pilots requested permission to climb to 37,000 feet in an effort to navigate the conditions.
Air traffic control approved the request.
However, less than 30 seconds later, the aircraft began reporting a rapid descent.
The crew transmitted an emergency Mayday call and reported that the aircraft was experiencing an overspeed condition.
An overspeed condition means the aircraft is traveling faster than its permitted operating speed.
Communications indicated that the jet was descending rapidly.
At approximately 12:50 p.m., the Learjet crashed near Military Trail, between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue, in Greenacres.
The impact created a massive crater in the roadway, and flames quickly engulfed the wreckage.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but none of the nine people aboard survived.
One person in a vehicle near the crash site also sustained a leg injury.
WHO WERE THE NINE PEOPLE ON BOARD?
As families began confirming the identities of those lost, the heartbreaking scale of the tragedy became clearer.
The seven passengers included:
- Adam Robinson, 45: A technology entrepreneur and founder of several marketing technology businesses.
- Helen Sharp, 40: Adam’s wife and the mother of their two young children.
- Emma, 4: Their young daughter.
- Charlie, 2: Their youngest child.
- Anita Maria Cetina: The children’s caregiver, described by the family as someone who cared for them with tenderness and devotion.
- Rachael Reed: A close friend of the family.
- Charmi Fehr: Rachael’s partner and another passenger aboard the flight.
The two crew members were Captain Jeffrey Gregory, 55, and co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20.
Nathalia had earned her pilot’s license while still in high school. Her family and former flight instructor later remembered her as a dedicated young aviator who loved flying.
All nine occupants were killed.
“EMMA AND CHARLIE WERE THE LIGHT OF THEIR LIVES”
Following the tragedy, relatives of the victims released a joint statement expressing their grief and remembering the family of four.
Adam and Helen were described as devoted parents whose children were the center of their world.
The statement also remembered their warmth, generosity and ability to make others feel welcome.
Their relatives said their loss would be deeply felt by everyone who knew and loved them.
Anita Maria Cetina was also remembered as an important part of the family.
She had cared for Emma and Charlie with affection and devotion, and relatives said her presence had become an integral part of their lives.
Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr were remembered as two people full of joy and adventure who loved each other deeply.
The families expressed gratitude to first responders, investigators and members of the Palm Beach County community who offered support during the difficult days following the crash.
They also asked for privacy as they mourned their loved ones.
INVESTIGATORS RECOVER IMPORTANT PIECES OF THE AIRCRAFT
The National Transportation Safety Board launched an investigation to determine exactly what caused the Learjet to crash.
One significant development came on November 3, when investigators announced that they had located a large portion of the aircraft’s left elevator, part of its tail section.
The component was found in several pieces approximately 1.3 to 3.8 miles from the main crash site.
Investigators said the discovery indicated that at least some aircraft components had separated before impact.
However, they cautioned that it was too early to determine whether the separation contributed to the accident or occurred because of the extreme forces experienced during the descent.
Weather conditions, icing, turbulence, aircraft speed and the possibility of an in-flight structural failure are among the issues being examined.
NOVEMBER 5 UPDATE: WRECKAGE RECOVERY CONTINUES
In its latest update on November 5, the NTSB confirmed that excavation and recovery operations were continuing near Greenacres.
Investigators and local officials had recovered a portion of one engine, while additional debris was discovered away from the impact site and on the roofs of nearby homes and buildings.
All recovered aircraft components are being transported to a secure location for further examination.
Investigators are also seeking additional evidence that could help reconstruct the aircraft’s final moments.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet announced a definitive cause of the crash.
NINE LIVES LOST, ONE COMMUNITY LEFT GRIEVING
The tragedy has left multiple families grieving parents, children, friends and loved ones who never returned from what should have been an ordinary journey.
For Adam and Helen’s relatives, the loss is especially devastating: two parents and their two little children were taken in the same incident.
Emma was only four years old. Charlie was just two.
They had so much of childhood still ahead of them.
A journey to the Bahamas that should have created happy family memories instead became a tragedy that has deeply affected everyone connected to the victims.
As investigators continue working to establish what happened aboard the Learjet 60, relatives are left with memories of nine people whose lives ended far too soon.
May all nine victims rest in peace, and may their families find strength and comfort in the days ahead.
