Little Alice’s Brave Journey Inspires Thousands After Rare Condition Surgery

When Alice Vitória was born on July 15, 2024, her life story began with a challenge few could imagine. During pregnancy, doctors discovered that she had two extremely rare conditions — acrania, a condition where part of the skull does not fully develop, and occipital encephalocele, where brain tissue and protective membranes protrude through an opening at the back of the head.
Because these conditions are so rare and complex, many specialists believed Alice’s chances of survival would be very limited. Yet from the moment she entered the world, the little girl began showing an incredible strength that would continue to inspire everyone around her.

Her mother, Stefanny Cristina, a content creator, refused to lose hope. Determined to give her daughter every possible chance, she turned to the internet and launched a fundraising campaign on the Vakinha platform to help cover the cost of a delicate surgery that Alice would need.
The response was overwhelming.

More than 4,000 people came together to support the campaign, raising about £125,000. The generosity of strangers and supporters from across the internet made it possible for Alice to undergo the complex procedure performed by neurosurgeon Dr. Alexandre Canheu.
After the surgery to correct the encephalocele, Alice spent time in intensive care while doctors carefully monitored her recovery. Slowly, encouraging signs began to appear.

Soon after, the little warrior reached an important milestone — she was able to leave the ICU and continue her recovery surrounded by her family’s love.
Just one week after the surgery, something beautiful happened.
Alice lifted her head on her own for the first time.

For many parents it might seem like a small moment, but for Stefanny it was a powerful sign of hope after months of uncertainty. Overwhelmed with emotion, she shared the moment in a video on social media.
“After a week of continuous recovery from such a delicate surgery, today something happened that filled my heart with joy — Alice lifted her little head,” Stefanny wrote. “What a special moment. God has been with us the entire time, giving us strength.”

According to Dr. Alexandre Canheu, Alice has continued to improve step by step.
“She has been getting better every day,” he shared. “We are gradually reducing her oxygen support, and soon she will begin physiotherapy to help with the next stage of her recovery.”

Although Alice still has a long journey ahead, her progress has already become a powerful reminder of resilience, faith, and the kindness of thousands of people who chose to help a small child they had never met.
Today, little Alice Vitória continues to grow stronger — surprising doctors, inspiring supporters, and filling her family with hope for the future.
