HEROIC SECURITY GUARD HAILS AS ‘PROTECTOR’ AFTER DYING IN SAN DIEGO ISLAMIC CENTER SHOOTING

San Diego is mourning the loss of a heroic security guard whose actions during Monday’s deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego likely saved countless lives. The tragic rampage left five people dead, including two teenage suspects, but eyewitnesses and officials say the bravery of the guard, identified by the community as Amin Abdullah, prevented the tragedy from becoming far worse.

According to police, Amin—a father of eight—acted without hesitation as chaos erupted inside the mosque and school campus. His quick response and fearless efforts to protect worshippers and students earned him widespread admiration, with community members flooding social media to mourn a “true hero who gave his life to protect others.” One post described him as “the nicest man you’ll ever meet. May Allah bless you.”

While authorities have not independently confirmed every detail of Abdullah’s actions, San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl emphasized his pivotal role: “We do believe the security guard was able to help at least minimize the situation to the front area of the mosque. His actions were heroic—he saved lives today.”

The attack unfolded rapidly. Police said officers swarmed the Islamic Center within four minutes of the first emergency call, conducting a fast-moving and dynamic response as they cleared classrooms, prayer areas, and surrounding buildings. Between 50 and 100 officers were involved in the operation, ensuring that no one else was harmed.

Authorities confirmed that five individuals died in the attack, including the two teenage suspects, who police say died from self-inflicted wounds. The other three victims were associated with the Islamic Center, though their names have not yet been released. No motive has been publicly confirmed, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Community members continue to honor Amin’s courage. Dozens of messages on social media praised his selflessness, calling him a protector and a true guardian of life, who ran toward danger while others fled. “The heroic actions of the officers and deputies are beyond belief. To run toward gunfire without asking questions is remarkable,” Chief Wahl noted.

Amin Abdullah’s legacy is now inseparable from the lives he helped save. His actions serve as a reminder that courage in the face of violence can alter the course of tragedy, and that true heroism often comes at the highest cost.

San Diego, and the families affected by this tragedy, are left to grapple with the grief of lives lost while remembering the bravery of a man who gave everything to protect his community.
