For Priscila Sanches Fenato, motherhood arrived in a way she never expected. The 29-year-old educator from Paraná, Brazil, had always dreamed of having children, but her path to becoming a mother was filled with fear, loss, and uncertainty.

Between 2018 and 2019, Priscila underwent surgery to remove a benign uterine fibroid. Not long after, she suffered a miscarriage at seven weeks, a painful experience that left her wondering whether she would ever be able to carry a pregnancy successfully.

Doctors later discovered that she had difficulty ovulating. To improve her chances, Priscila began taking medication to stimulate ovulation. For six months, she followed the treatment with hope, never imagining that it would lead to such an extraordinary result.

Her pregnancy did not happen through IVF. It came after ovulation stimulation, and during a routine ultrasound, everything changed.

The doctor told her there was more than one baby. When Priscila asked how many, he began counting the heartbeats. Overwhelmed by shock and fear, she started crying and even asked him to stop the exam. For days, she searched for information and became terrified by the risks of carrying four babies.

Doctors later explained that three eggs had been fertilized, but one divided into two embryos. Priscila was carrying quadruplets: identical twins Heitor and Arthur, who shared a placenta, and fraternal twins Alice and Benício.

Despite the concerns, her pregnancy progressed well under close medical care. At 31 weeks, she delivered all four babies by cesarean section. Heitor and Arthur were slightly smaller because they shared a placenta, while Alice and Benício weighed a little more at birth.

Bringing the babies home transformed the family’s life completely. Priscila’s days are now filled with feedings, diapers, schedules, and sleepless nights. Still, she describes the experience as exhausting but deeply rewarding.

After surgery, heartbreak, and doubt, Priscila’s dream of motherhood became greater than anything she had imagined: four tiny lives, one extraordinary beginning, and a powerful story of hope.
