Tourist Tossed More Than 2 Meters by Bison at Yellowstone in Frightening Incident Caught on Camera
Yellowstone National Park, United States — July 2026
A tourist was thrown more than 2 meters (about 6 feet) into the air after being charged by a bison at Yellowstone National Park, with the dramatic encounter captured on video by nearby visitors.

According to park officials, the incident occurred after the visitor reportedly got too close to the wild animal. The bison suddenly charged, lifting the individual off the ground before tossing them several meters away as stunned onlookers watched.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and provided medical assistance to the injured tourist, who was later transported for further evaluation. Officials have not released details about the person’s condition.
Yellowstone authorities continue to remind visitors that bison are wild, unpredictable animals capable of running at speeds of up to 35 mph (56 km/h). Park regulations require visitors to stay at least 25 yards (23 meters) away from bison and other large wildlife to reduce the risk of dangerous encounters.

The incident has renewed warnings from the National Park Service, which urges tourists to respect wildlife, remain alert, and never approach animals for photographs or close-up views.
Officials say the case remains under review, and the widely shared video serves as another reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe distance from wildlife in national parks.
