Hours after the search, the 67-year-old actress addressed the situation directly, assuring supporters that both she and the animals were safe.

Blair described the inspection as an unexpected visit conducted during 105-degree heat. According to the actress, the central issues involved paperwork, updated diagrams and administrative requirements rather than the removal of animals or an emergency involving their care.

She said the experience had been surprising, but she wanted to move forward and continue helping dogs in need.

The property was searched under an inspection warrant as part of a joint operation involving the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control and the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning.

County officials said the purpose was to examine buildings and structures connected to a kennel operation reportedly housing more than 100 dogs. The inspection was also intended to determine whether the property complied with county regulations and whether the animals were being kept under appropriate safety and welfare conditions.

The Department of Animal Care and Control said permits for the kennel facility had expired in 2023. Officials also alleged that several attempts by both county agencies to contact Blair had not received a response.

The warrant allowed inspectors to enter the property legally and evaluate the operation. Officials said their responsibilities included reviewing the dogs’ living conditions, the safety of the facility and the overall well-being of the animals housed there.

They emphasized that the inspection was intended to protect not only the dogs but also anyone living or working on the property.

Despite the attention surrounding the search, no dogs were reportedly taken away. Blair was present during the inspection and was described as highly cooperative.

Blair Addresses Supporters Directly

Blair responded later that day through a social media post and accompanying video.

Standing outside and speaking directly to the camera, she explained that the visit had resulted in requirements involving documents and new property diagrams. She repeatedly reassured viewers that she was fine and that the animals were also doing well.

Her goal is to find a place where she can help more animals while creating a stronger educational environment around rescue, rehabilitation and responsible care.

Blair became internationally recognized as a child actress after starring in the 1973 horror classic The Exorcist. Her performance made her one of the most familiar young stars of her generation.

In the decades that followed, however, animal rescue became a defining part of her public and private life.

She founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for abused, abandoned and neglected animals. The organization has focused heavily on dogs that may otherwise struggle to find safety or permanent homes.

That work formed the backdrop to Blair’s response after the inspection.

Rather than concentrating only on the county’s visit, she appealed for help from people willing to donate, volunteer or provide foster homes.
