TWO TEEN BEST FRIENDS KILLED IN THREE-CAR CRASH JUST MINUTES FROM HOME
VICTORVILLE, CALIFORNIA — Two teenage best friends who had just started their senior year were killed in a devastating three-car crash—only minutes from home.
Maddalyn Dailey, 17, and Isabell DeLang, 16, were traveling together in an Acura TL on Friday, August 14, when their vehicle was struck by a Dodge Charger and a Chevy Camaro on Ridgecrest Road near Elmwood Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
THE IMPACT WAS SO VIOLENT THE CAR SPLIT IN HALF
Authorities say the Dodge and Camaro were traveling at a high rate of speed when they collided with the Acura.
The impact was catastrophic.
The Acura was split in half, killing both girls.
Maddalyn’s father, Dustin Dailey, said his daughter had been taking Isabell home and planned to return for dinner with her family.
Instead, the family heard the crash.
“I heard the impact, and I automatically knew,” he told local media.
THEY WERE INSEPARABLE
The two girls had reportedly been best friends since elementary school and were beginning their senior year together at Sultana High School.
Their families described them as deeply loved young women with so much ahead of them.
Maddalyn would have turned 18 in November.
Isabell was remembered by her family as funny, kind, intelligent and deeply loved.
ONE DRIVER ARRESTED — ANOTHER STILL MISSING
The driver of the Dodge remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, according to CHP.
The driver of the Camaro allegedly fled the scene and remained unaccounted for in the latest reports. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The investigation remains ongoing.
TWO BEST FRIENDS. ONE FINAL DRIVE HOME.
They were supposed to be finishing high school, making plans for graduation and looking ahead to adulthood.
Instead, two families are now planning funerals.
Just minutes from home, two best friends lost their lives—and a community is left asking how a night that began like any other could end in such unimaginable heartbreak.
The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against the surviving driver have not been proven in court.
