4-YEAR-OLD GIRL DIES AFTER BEING TRAPPED INSIDE HOT SUV — POLICE CALL IT AN “UNIMAGINABLE TRAGEDY”

AMERICAN FORK, UTAH — A Utah family is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Rosalie “Rosie” Grace Freund, a 4-year-old girl who died after apparently becoming trapped inside a hot SUV parked in her family’s driveway.

Rosie had been playing with her three sisters at the family’s American Fork home on July 26 when investigators believe she climbed into a 2020 GMC Yukon XL.

 TRAPPED FOR UP TO 2½ HOURS

Police believe Rosie remained inside the vehicle for as long as 2½ hours, while temperatures inside the SUV climbed to an estimated 120 degrees.

Investigators said the vehicle’s rear child-safety locks were engaged and believe Rosie did not know how to open the front doors.

When she was discovered, CPR was immediately performed.

She was transported to a local hospital and later flown by medical helicopter to Salt Lake City. Her condition was described as extremely poor in court documents.

Rosie died two days later.

Rosie’s obituary paints a picture of a little girl who brought happiness to everyone around her.

 Bright colors
 Mac and cheese
Her three sisters

Her family described her as “the embodiment of joy” and said:

“She brought happiness wherever she went.”

Now, her parents and three sisters are facing an unimaginable loss.

NO CRIMINAL CHARGES

American Fork Police Lt. Ryan Archuleta said investigators will not pursue criminal charges in connection with Rosie’s death.

A fundraiser has also been established to help the family during this devastating time.

She should have been swimming, singing, playing with her sisters and growing up surrounded by the people who loved her.
