HUMAN REMAINS FOUND JUST 15 MILES FROM NANCY GUTHRIE’S HOME — BUT POLICE SAY THEY ARE NOT CONNECTED
For a moment, the discovery of human remains in the Arizona desert appeared to raise a chilling possibility in the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie.
The remains were found near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard, roughly 15 miles from Nancy’s home.
But investigators have now made one thing clear:
They do not currently believe the remains are connected to Nancy’s disappearance.
THE DISCOVERY THAT SPARKED QUESTIONS
Pima County sheriff’s deputies responded after human remains were discovered in a desert area south of Tucson.
Because of the location and Nancy’s disappearance, the discovery immediately raised questions about whether investigators had finally found a clue in one of the country’s most closely watched missing-person cases.
But authorities said the remains appeared to have been at the location for an extended period of time.
At this stage, there is no indication they belong to Nancy.
NANCY’S CASE REMAINS OPEN
Nancy was last seen on January 31 and was reported missing the following day.
Investigators have treated her disappearance as a suspected abduction and have spent months searching for answers.
The discovery of the remains therefore did not bring the breakthrough Nancy’s family has been desperately waiting for.
Instead, authorities continue to pursue separate leads in her case.
Investigators have recently released the full text of two ransom notes, hoping the unusual wording could help identify whoever wrote them.
HER FAMILY IS STILL WAITING
Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, has continued publicly pleading for information that could finally bring her mother home.
More than six months after Nancy disappeared, there is still no confirmed public answer about where she is or what happened to her.
And now another discovery has raised questions — only for investigators to say it does not appear to be the missing woman.
The remains may answer another unidentified-person case.
But they have not answered the question Nancy’s family has been asking for months:
WHERE IS NANCY GUTHRIE?
Authorities have not publicly identified the remains. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says there is currently no indication they are connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
