14-Year-Old Student Accused of Shooting Classmate at Georgia High School to Be Tried as Adult

A shooting at Warner Robins High School in Georgia left a 14-year-old ninth-grade student injured on August 12, 2026.

The shooting occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. The student was shot in the leg and taken for medical treatment. His injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Authorities identified the suspect as Denzelle Willis Jr., 14, also a ninth-grade student at the school. Police said Willis fled the campus following the shooting but was later arrested.

During his initial court appearance on August 13, a judge denied bond, and Willis remains in custody.

Prosecutors have stated that the case will be handled as an adult prosecution, despite Willis being 14 years old.

He faces aggravated assault with a firearm as well as several additional charges involving firearms and possession or carrying of a weapon on school grounds.

The case remains ongoing, and the allegations against Willis have not been proven in court.
